Novac sights are good, high quality, great workmanship. Nothing wrong with them.
..,people hate on a cheaper priced gun because they have to justify the $1500 they spent on a Kimber, id shoot mine against one any day
Been a while ago, but I think I paid $990 for my CDP. I don't have to hate on the cheap guns, 'cause my shooter(the one I did my competition shooting with) is a Colt 1991, which I paid about $450 for(a REAL long time ago,..

) and my "custom" is a Springfield Armory 1911A1 which I paid a whopping 300 for (used) which I shot for a while before the 1991 came along, then I started the cut an file routine on it(did all the work myself, still a work in progress, but it's turned out nice).
The problem with Taurus isn't that they can't make a quality product. Their problem is
reliably making a quality product. There's an engineering term called tolerance stack up.
Here's the long version at Wikipedia. The short version is, they set the tolerances of each part such that most of the parts will fit together, but some won't even though they're technically "in" tolerance. The "looser" the tolerance, the more parts likely won't work together, but the parts are cheaper to make. The "tighter" the tolerances, the more parts work together, but you get higher part cost, and many more rejected parts. It's a statistical game engineers play to keep part cost acceptable while saving money and working with the tooling/processes available.
Imagine a bin full of 1" square blocks of wood. You pull ten out at random and stack them up. If all the blocks are
exactly 1 inch, then the stack will be exactly 10 inches tall - That's your Wilson Combat 1911. If the blocks are
about 1 inch, then the stack might be 10 1/4, or 9 3/4, or maybe exactly 10. There's your Taurus.
Most of Taurus' guns are "good enough",.. some will be "excellent", and some will be dogs. This is why they have the spotty reputation. If you know that going into the deal, and it doesn't bother you, then go for it.
I guess I didn't answer the original question with my first post, so my opinion: If I didn't have a handgun, the steering gear on the Jeep wasn't worn out, and I had the choice of upgrading the steering links or getting a gun. I'd get a gun. Pistols are too much fun to go without.
