I keep getting a new hardware found box when ever my computer wakes up from hibernation. The thing is I haven't added any, and for what it is saying it found I would think would be hardware, but software. Anyone ever see anything like this that could tell me what it is. I think it may be some kind of virus trying to get a foot hold so I want to check it out before I let it install. As of now I've just bean hitting cancel.

EDIT: My antivirus (EZ Trust) turns up nothing. Nor does SpyBot, or Windows Defender.

Do a right click on 'my computer' the 'properties' then hardware, take a look at your hardware, look for any red or yellow warnings in there. You might have gotten a recent MS update that had a driver for something that was not detected before.
Also if you upgraded to IE 7 go to adobe.com, flash support and pull down the flash uninstaller.exe and remove your flash, reboot and return to adobe and download the new flash, the older one that was in IE6 causes big problems in IE7 in both XP and VISTA.

well for one thing, MS. XP has a driver called "kernal" so there you know its not some made up name.

i dont know...just letting you know that the Kernal drive is real so this COULD be a service pack

There isn't much out there for this error. Do you have PC Doctor installed? PCDR (in the messages) = PC Doctor. Found this link that has to do with an update for PC Doctor for Lenovo Thinkpads so it may not strictly apply to your machine but points to the software related to this message.

Unless it's providing some value you might uninstall PC Doctor and see if the message goes away.
Very few Google hits, mostly people saying they received the message but no explinations for it.

That was basically what I was trying to find out. If it was legit, or not. I did do a windows update the other morning, and it started coming around after that now that you mention it. I don't use IE for anything, but gaining access to the Mozilla page if I've had to uninstall FireFox for some reason. So I'm not even sure what IE I've got. I've never upgraded it per say so unless it has been done by a Windows upgraid it's probably less than IE7. There was a yellow question mark beside the hardware in the device manager, but it doesn't say anything more about it other than it needs installed. It doesn't even say what it is, and is listed under other. I'll go ahead and install it, and if it gives me any problems I'll just jump back to a restore point.

For a while there MS put the IE7 update under 'critical' so it got downloaded automatically if you have auto update turned on. Pissed a bunch of people off so they moved it to 'optional'. The flash player creates all kinds of havoc.

is this an IBM or Gateway PC?
they used that software as part of the help and support stuff on the machine.
It's most definitly software related and not hardware.
Check in add/remove programs for any kind of support software, then remove it.
Otherwise I would look into the services running on the machine and disable it.
If you want, gimme a call, I seem to be the MWC tech support

Nate it's an IBM, an HP to be exact. I just set to not install. It doesn't seem to be making a difference being not installed.
