Hello
I got a trip planned for memorial day weekend to go to Coal Creek. I've got a slightly modified 98 xj but, it's my wife's daily driver so it's not making the trip. My friend and I are planning on riding 4 wheelers to do the first run and then we'll break out our old junker Bronco II.
Yes, i know this is NAXJA, i have a XJ and i do wheel it often at Turkey Bay (20 minutes from my home town), i'm just not taking it to Windrock for my first time until i see how the trails are.
Any how, our plans are to camp at windrock and do the initial trail run on atv's then maybe get out the bronco. We'll be riding for 2 days (sunday and Monday) and i was wonder which trails should be the first that we tackle. I'd like see the scenery of the place. I'm expecting it to be pretty scenic and don't want to waste time searching for stuff when i could have jsut asked you guys.

Also, anyone got any good advice for us since this is our first time there? Camping, trails, do & don't, etc.
Heck are any of you planning on being there that weekend? I love to meet up with someone that knows where they are going.

Thanks

if you want to camp at one of the official windrock campgrounds book it SOON! they ALWAYS fill up on holidays. honestly i wouldn't be suprised if its already half booked!

i ride on the north side of winrock a lot, it's just minutes from my house and i can see the mountains where the trails are from my driveway. however the gated area (all the campgrounds) are about an hour drive from me and i've been to the campsites but, never started there because...i'd have to pay!!! people may flame me for not paying but honestly the coal creek area is much bigger than what is accesable from the shack where you pay. and the trails have been changing a LOT in the last couple of years because of the gas wells or oil well or whatever. its not as great as it used to be but still great.

i honestly can't remember the trail numbers so maybe someone else will help out on that. i never start where you plan on starting but i do know some great trails on the north side!!! aka where i live!!!

i'll be up there saturday!

i like to start on trail 22, its right off the road, and is medium trail. You will have no trouble with mediums, i used to do them in my explorer with 2" body lift an 31's. A stock jeep could do most of those trials as well. I think ill be up there as well, but probably do a friday - saturday thing.
