clunk in steering column

do you have a stock or aftermarket track bar?

Make sure all the hardware for your control arms, trac bar, tie rod ends, etc... are at the specified torque. then go from there. I also get a clunk when i steer left and right at a stop after i go wheeling. I just tighten the trac bar bolt again and the clunk goes away, hopefully your problm is as easy to fix. good luck.

it clunks before or after i go offroading, at a stop or while i'm driving, doesn't matter if i tighten anything or not, i highly doubt it has anything to do with my trackbar

well, it's worth checking. mine does clunk, quite a bit. have someone move the steering wheel back and forth with your head under the front end. this ought to answer your questions.

dude, you are not going to like this much... mine (4.5" lift 31's) clunked in the steering wheel... and it was the steering box bolts pulling though the frame.. before my new bumper and reinforcement of them.. but that is what it sounds like.

like dookie said. have some one turn it while you look. the j-joint at the top of an RE trackbar makes that noise too, with as little as 1/16th of an inch play in the joint. i had that happen a while ago too.
