Alright guys, my fiance wants a new car, and, REALLY wants a civic. But, my question is this. If i put a small hitch on it, would it tow a small trailer? And open 4x6 with 1 streetbike on it. Or, should I push her more toward the Honda passport? I know Civics will run forever if ya take care of em, but, would towing a bike trailer wear it out sooner? I know it sounds like adumb question, but, please humor me. I won't be towing with it everday, but, when i do tow with it, it will be for at least 2 hours on the highway. She also doesn't mind the accord to much, at least that has a v-6. So, what are yall's opinions? Thanks in advance

I haven't done it personally but my frineds have a miata and an S2000 both with a hitch. They tow their race tires and wheels, tool boxes, tanks, coolers etc...

I know the dry weight of a street bike is ~400lbs so I would guesstimate you should have no problems. They pamper their cars outside of racing the hell out of them. No problems yet.

piece of cake for the civic it wouldn't even know its back there. of course the higher model you get the better but 400 pounds is nothin for it.

I'd worry more about the suspension and maybe even chassis...It wasn't designed with towing in mind so it'd likely put undue stress on it.

I'm sure you're right, IF you can find a well designed hitch. I think that's going to be the obstacle (along with possible warrantee issues). I know from experience that an 84 Civic DX with 5 people in it, a canoe on it, and a small boat trailer behind it can still haul freight surprisingly well.

OK. Sounds good. I'm not going brand new, but, probaably an 03 or so because i'd like warranty still. So, it will depend on the warranty as to wether it will tow or not. Thanks for ya'lls info! I appreciate it.
