The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences. - Christopher McCandless

"Rather than love, than money, than faith, than fame, than fairness... give me truth."

I read somewhere... how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong... but to feel strong. - Christopher McCandless

Some people feel like they don't deserve love. They walk away quietly into empty spaces, trying to close the gaps of the past. - Christopher McCandless

Christopher McCandless: If we admit that human life can be ruled by reason, then all possibility of life is destroyed.

Christopher McCandless: The sea's only gifts are harsh blows, and occasionally the chance to feel strong. Now I don't know much about the sea, but I do know that that's the way it is here. And I also know how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong. To measure yourself at least once. To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions. Facing the blind death stone alone, with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head.

Christopher McCandless: Happiness only real when shared.
I liked some of this guys musings, and was an outdoorsman like many of us here. So... figured I'd post some up.

I didn't care too much for the book, I think it was poorly written. The movie is better than the book. Still a good read though with more information than the movie gave. He did have an adventure that most will never experience. A bit of misfortune and a not so well thought out plan ended it though.

I loved the book, have not seen the movie though. I've been to alot of the places that he visited in the Mojave desert and Salton Sea area.

An adventure he did have; reckelss, idealistic, and stupid as he was.

I liked the book much more than the movie, then again i like John Krakauer's writing. If you like into the wild try "Into Thin Air".
