I’m looking to upgrade my car’s gear lever knob and want something that feels great to grip and adds a bit of style to the interior.

I’m interested in options that are comfortable for daily driving and made from durable materials like leather, metal, or wood.

Does anyone have recommendations on brands or specific knobs that balance ergonomics and aesthetics well?

Also, how tricky is the installation process on most vehicles? Any tips or things to watch out for?

Manual or automagic?

If it is a manual you could find a woodworker with a lathe and turn something to suit you.

Or look online at something like TwistedShifterz
 
If you've got the automatic, you could do what I did and swap on a ZJ shift knob. It's a simple, "OEM+" mod, no alterations required - just pull the XJ one off and push the ZJ one on. Definitely nicer to grab than the original T-bar handle.

The following link shows this mod on a right-hand-drive XJ, but it's the same for left-hand-drive models.
