Any of you guys who are chopping the tops off your XJ's have a custom rag top you have gotten made?

I am plannin on cuttin between the A&B pillars. B&C pillars and from the C pillar back.

Leaving a hoop at each interface.
These are just my initial thoughts.

And being in an area that rains and snows during the proper seasons... I need to be able to fab a soft top for her soon after the build.

Anyone have any links or suggestions?

Why not a marine place?

When I was toying with the idea I went to an awning/boat place, I guess I hit them during peak season and said it would be three months before they could get to it. Since then my money went to other mods.

Well I could just say trust me.....but that would not satisify you, would it?

Marine places do not have the tools, talent, or time to do a quality job on a automobile, not to mention the wear and tear that an off-road vehicle is going to put on that top.
I tried several marine places first.....some said "Sure...no problem", but most said "No". I ended upo going to a custom convertable place, it is waterproof, windproof, and fits right.

Well... depending on what a lot is.. it still looks great. One reason I am so afraid to go choptop, is because once you do you can only take it out on nice days. I would like to be able to take it out if its cold and windy and raining.. !!

Rev Den...
What would one consider... "a lot"
over $1k? over $2k? over $3k?

That looks sick though.
I am planning on doin something similar but i have a 4 door and I want the pitch of the back piece to be a little steeper.

Do you have any pics of the interior?

When you fabbed your chop top, was there anything that you did to make it work better with a rag top?

In Hindsight is there anything you WISH you did to make it work better with a rag top?

Under 1K.....just.
:D
The interior is a basic 2 dr...minus all the trim, my choice, made it easier to cage.
I did not do anything special to make it rag top compliant, other then rounding over the roof edges to prevent sharp edges.
If I did it again, I would do it the same way.

AWESOME.
thanks.
Under $1k isnt too bad considering how specialized the has to be and how certain rag tops are $$$$ just for a mass produced cookie cutter one.
Hell the soft top for the TJ's areat least $500 JUST for a the cloth, no hardware.
