I loved living in CHicago in 1991. I had a lot of friends from school that grew up in Deerfield, Northbrook, Lake Forest. Little did I know that this was NOT representative of the flavor of chicago, mostly just pampered old money types.
I lived in Roger's Park (damn near evanston). I made $40 a week doing advertising internship for Ticketmaster Corp (555 W. Adams, walked by Sears Tower every day). My boss was sleeping with the manager of the Cubby Bear (katty corner from the main entrance to wrigley field) and he gave me some bartending shifts to support myself ($175/night tax free, Guido looking guys with guns watching me count my till at end of night).
Had friends on Eddy that I crashed with. Deep dish spinach pizza every night. MTB all over the city, visit the variious street parties, watch the beach volleyball tournemants. Best bars anywhere. Great bands playing always.
Now, if you guys could come up with some granite slabs for me, I'd consider moving back.
And Indy != Chicago. Give it up, that is one argument you will NOT win.
