hey all i know this isnt a grand cherokee forum but my dad has an 02 grand cherokee and the front rotors seem to warp after about 6-10000 miles. dealer just replaces them every time. now this isn right, next week an having performance rotors put on with new brake pads. this should cure the problem shouldnt it. there was a tsb out about the calipers and those already had the beefier ones on it. i believe the stock rotos are too thin for these vehicles. any help would be appreciated.

are the calipers sticking and heating up the rotors, prematurly causing them to fail?

Wheels being torqued each time the wheels are off? I worked at a dealer and you may or may not be surprised how many people don't think a torque wrench is that important. Yeah, alot of people "think" they can nail 95 ft/lbs. with their impact, and sometimes you can. But in checking my own work and others I decided to torque them w/ a torque wrench. Torque sticks don't impress me either. They depend on consistent air pressure, a consistent gun and a user who realizes they can't just go full speed w/ the gun and expect the stick to eliminate the reality of momentum. I serviced WJ's alot and did many of the caliper updates. I rarely had them come back with pulsation again. If they did I could usually find in their history where they had a rotate at 6K or had wheels off for some other reason. You did say 6- 10K, right.

Chrysler rotors are notorious for being thin and therefore warping due to the high heat. Aftermarket rotors would definitely be the way to go. Try for some that are thicker.
