Cherokee Crawl 2009

well i look at it this way, its a MONEY thing for me.
i can drive to bama from SC, and camp, ride the park for 3 days. and also pay event fee, and have the entire park for just us is also a PLUS for less than 150 round trip.
and the windrock thing is by what i understand, 20 or 25 per person, per day. and i got 4 in my clan, then also pay for a place to stay. i can not see that type of cash for a 3 day thing. maybe if i was local in the area. and could go home every night, but not for me.

so Morris Mtn is for me ,, GOOD call on the place for this year.

Awesome! good to hear we will have some travelers!

yep...let me see if I can find that list

Required Equipment for
Event Participation

1. Visibly Charged Fire Extinguisher
(BC or ABC)

2. First Aid Kit
3. Adequate Spare Tire, Jack and
Lug Wrench

4. Safety Belts for driver and any
current passenger

5. Adequate Attachment points in
the front and rear of the vehicle

6. 20ft 10,000lb Snatch Strap
without any metal hooks

7. Secured Battery

VERY HIGHLY recommends that all
event participants have a CB Radio.
NAXJA requires all listed items
to be present, and available for
use, for a vehicle to be permitted
to participate in an event. Participants
are expected to stow equipment
and all other items within
their vehicle in a safe manner,
conscious of the effects of OHV
use and possible shifting of items.
Safety Inspectors will use this
list for safety inspections prior to
any event. The Safety Inspector
has final say in approval or rejection
of any vehicle for event participation
and may at anytime defer
to a second event or club officer
for additional ruling
NAXJA expects each event
participant to carry insurance and
registration sufficient to meet the
legal requirements of their vehicle
state of residence and for the
roads and trails traveled for the
event. NAXJA is not responsible
for assuring an entrant vehicle is
legal for the roads and trails traveled
in the event.

I'll be there! One way or another!

Sorry folks, your local SEC technology and organization master :D won't be there this year.

Serious lack of $ coupled with many things that need replacin' leave me out of it for now. Once I get the important stuff fixed, I'll come out and meet you jokers.

You can still come along. Being the tech guru means you get to film and photo the wheeling activites.

That should help spur you along to getting your rig going.

Heh. I gotta upgrade my A/V facilities before I become the official videographer, lol. It's hard to mix A/v when you only have 11GB left on your hard drive, lol.

Not to mention, I'll be bringing my SO and she's pretty shy. Gotta ease her into these social situations.

What are you talking about? You know how to hold a Sony Handicam, right? If I can do it, it ought to be a breeze for you.

Bring her along. We don't bite......well, I don't think any of us do but you never know.

Naw, the Handycam is the easy part - I've got one of those. Pulling the video to the computer for the editing is the resource-intensive part. I guarantee that it'd fill up my HDD fast. I'm in the process of getting a big 320GB HDD soon.

I'll sit this one out and try to make the next one where I can wheel my own rig with my girl. Thanks, though. :D

...the trip is still over 5 months away... you don't have to sit this one out, there's plenty of time to put away some money...
i mean shoot, if everyone could put away $25 a week, they'd have $500 by the trip... and all you'd have to do is not eat out once or twice during the week to save 25 bucks right?

Well said. I am trying to make some positive change as well. Everything can't be convenient for everyone.

No joke there, 724 miles, 11hrs 41 minutes. whine, snivel, nose bubble.

I will start planning and saving now. Sounds like it should be a good time. Been east for almost 3 years and I spend more time wheeling with NAXJA in SoCal while TDY tham I do with NAXJA SEC in my own "back yard".

Thats gonna change.

John

Seems how I didnt make the flog I am gonna try and make this event. I am really wanting to put some faces to these screen names. Hope to see ya'll there.

Those of you complaining about how far it is. Just rember OneTon and Fore wheeler came from the midwest to ride in the crawl. We had Crunch from Colorodo come and a host of others make long drives. Those are off the top of my head. I'd like to see a crawl in VA in the future. I just hope I cane scrape up the money to drive that far! LOL!

That one's gonna be tough for me right now. In two months or so when our income stabilizes, I might could scrape something up. I actually overdrew my account yesterday :looser:

Been there done that. It will get better! My office went a few months without freight.
