Cherokee Crawl 2009

The wife and I are out too..550 miles and 8 hour drive is the killer.

WTF - I may be down with doing something unofficial that same weekend closer to home.

Friggin right........finally something going on in Alabama. I am there. Too bad there isnt a race or something that weekend at 'Dega...that would be pimp.

You guys wanted a BOD that would do stuff, plan events, and get things rolling in the right direction. You wanted to do more Meet & Greets, wrenching and wheeling. I'd like to think we were listening.

I'm sorry for letting everybody down. The plan was to be proactive, not reactive. We actually have a full calendar of events for the entire year. We have both major rides, the Crawl and Flog, planned with dates set for the year. There is plenty of room on the calendar for tons of other rides, etc.

As to why we chose Morris Mountain. We saw an opportunity to get the exclusive use of an OHV park that would only have Crawl participants there. New facilities. An excellent rate for an entire weekend of wheeling and camping. This allows people to bring their entire family if they so desire and not pay a "per person" fee. It's a park everyone seems to like and in an area many have never been.

With the way things are now, we can get on task to prerun trails, plan the meals, put together the flyers, and gather raffle prizes.

It also gives people who want to attend ample time to save up for the event, make requests for time off from work, etc.

I guess I should have polled everything and got 50 different places and answers for dates. Then we could be rushing around at the last minute trying to pull it together. And even after doing all of that, somebody would still be upset.

By the way, the dates for both '09 events mirror last years Crawl and Flog.

I would hope that 6 months from now everyone would feel better and come have a good time with us. We really meant for this announcement to be positive and a move forward.

Well I will be doing my best to get the fam and myself down there. Even though I will have about 1hr or so longer drive (one way) then some that are:rattle:. Thank you BOD for being on top of things, pulling the trigger and getting things done.

Well said Mr. Ed.

I am all for Morris Mt., only 80 miles from home!!! I mean NO ill will! I'm very happy with the BOD being pro-active! The date conflicts with a prior engagement thats all. I was hoping for a vote on the date, out of a hope of last resort, i'm the idiot for not remembering the dates.

Who knows, it's six months away, my schedule might open up.

I didn't want to complain either, just had heard it was at Windrock. Turns out that I will have a tough time makin it myself since I will be in Ft. Polk until the 3rd. I will try my hardest though. Plan to have some mods by then......

Jsut an FYI, the Crawl has always been on the first weekend of July.

Im going to try to get my cousin to go and we will sty at the lake house in Cedar Bluff only about an hour away.

Bronco forums talking about going to Morris the next weekend too LOL...

Yeah, not complaining here either; just stating my circumstances. kudos to the organizers for having plans ready so early and an exclusive weekend at the park will be a welcome luxury.

i just checked out the morris mountain website. looks awesome. how strict are they on vehicle requirements? if they hold you to it alot of us can't go passed the class 3 trails. or do we want to go past the class 3 trails?

The Cherokee Crawl is one of two events put on by the South East Chapter of NAXJA (the Flog being the other). It's an event where eveyone gets together for wheeling, camping, and eating for a long weekend. There is also a raffle for all kinds of Jeep goodies.

I believe these are more 'suggested equipment' than requirements. All of the trails cross over and fork off of each other, so there would be no feasible way to enforce what trails you ride with what level of built rig. If you lack the experience or common sense to determine what level of trail you should attempt and the trail boss warning you of what you're getting into don't dissuade you from going on a trail, there will be plenty of people eager to watch and photo/video you tearing up your junk! :fuse:

You will need the NAXJA required equipment to participate in any trail ride though.

Yeah they're just suggestions...

We were there on New Years. Its a good place. I will be wheeling at Mountainside a week or 2 after this so Im not sure as of now but We'll see.

Any ideas where the Flog will be?

Yes, it will be at Morris Mountain. July 2-4, 2009.

well i look at it this way, its a MONEY thing for me.
i can drive to bama from SC, and camp, ride the park for 3 days. and also pay event fee, and have the entire park for just us is also a PLUS for less than 150 round trip.
and the windrock thing is by what i understand, 20 or 25 per person, per day. and i got 4 in my clan, then also pay for a place to stay. i can not see that type of cash for a 3 day thing. maybe if i was local in the area. and could go home every night, but not for me.

so Morris Mtn is for me ,, GOOD call on the place for this year.
