I'm building up my junk 89 XJ. I just want to get it as high as I can for as cheap as I can. Whats new right. But the difference is I'm not looking for quality as it will not be my dd or even serious trail rig. Just a fun junk project as the rig is pretty much had its day. I just wanna make it huge for not a lot of money. I'm willing to do lots of cutting and so on to clear big meats. But i need to lift er first. Tips, Parts, Parts you or somebody else is selling. Anything.

Sounds like you have a lot of research to start on! Don't take shortcuts or you will pay megabucks in the end. PLENTY of solutions for you to find... Look up the screen a bit. There's a search button that will help tremendously. Start by doing your homework.

try this.
Hi-Lift.jpg

S-10 leafs+1 or 2" block,= around 5.5-6.5"s in the rear,
4.5" ZJ coils off ebay plus 2" spacer- around 5.5-6.5" in the front
Cut the hell out of it and you'll easily fit 36's with that lift.

All this will lead to the need of a lot of other modifications right? Like tcd, or longer arms?

At 6.5"s you'll probably need an SYE or a T-case drop. At 5.5" I say you could maybe get away without either considering its a trial rig but all Jeeps are different so you never know.
But also with running 36's or bigger you'll need a better axle, like an XJ44. If you run 35's or smaller you could probly get away with your stock axles, its an 89 so im assuming it has the 35.
Oh and yes you'll need longer arms but if you buy used you can find some for pretty cheap.

OR you could just do a 3-4" lift and not worry about SYE, or longer arms and cut the shit out of it and fit 35's.
F-250 coils with spacer, s-10 leaves without spacers= about 4"s of lift
Price=about $100 for front and rear, pretty damn good.
