Thanks, I have talked to him several times, he and his father built it. As bad as it sounds I would like to drop it off somewhere and have a warranty on the work, I just don;t have the time or knowledge to do it myself.
Yeah, I'm watching to find out if you guys find one too. My jeep is back in Kernersville, NC (between G-boro and W-S) and I'm just waiting on my dad to blow it up so he can pay for the "rebuild". I'll just pay for the stroker kit, but he's not exactly an engine builder, so I need somewhere he can drop it off and pick it up--and a warranty on the work wouldn't be bad either :repair:
I dont know off the top of my head of a shop that will build a 4.6L stroker motor with a warrenty in the Charlotte area. The guy that Andy uses to build motors does a good job but he wont warrenty a 4.6L or 4.7L stroker. I talked to Ben several times in the past about doing a stroker. It wasnt worth the hassle with Ben doing the work. If you can read a factory service manual and understand it, theres really nothing hard about rebuilding a motor. The stroker is nothing more than a rebuild on a 4.0L motor with a 4.2L crank and rods. David is another guy in the Charlotte area who built his own stroker with my help and so far its survived. He built the stroker last year after school and on the weekends knowing nothing about the internals of a motor. If you take the time to read everything and you want to learn a stroker can be built in your garage, it just takes time and want. I can give you the name of a really good machine shop that did my work as well as Davids. All the work was fantastic and done in a timley maner and constiant with all the specs being on the tighter side of factory origional. If theres anything else just ask and I will try and help out.
Thanks Aaron, Once I sell one of my 2wd Cherokees I might call you about this. My other option to fill my need for speed is getting another GSXR. I guess I will make that decision when the cash is in hand.
