Charger R/T wheels on my 99

Well I had originally started a thread on putting newer WJ or XK wheels on my XJ because I wanted something a little bigger but not just rediculously bling big.
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=931130
Turns out in that thread JeepZZ pointed out that Dodge Charger/Magnum wheels are the same bolt pattern. Well, I found a set about 2 hours away from me for a really good price. I went and picked them up last night, and I think I'm really going to like the way they look when I get some decent tires on them. The guy who sold these to me drove them about a month off the lot and then went and got some 22"s (Snap!) so he's had these sitting around since '05. The tires only have like 1000 miles on them, but they are 225s and those don't look the best on an XJ with a 3" lift (refer to pictures below). Although they don't look horrible on it with the baby tires, it just looks goofy and I feel weird driving it around so I'm going to take them back off and wait until I can find a set equivalent to a 30-31" tire in an 18" rim. I had no fitment issues at all, and I believe when I decide to keep them on, the center caps from my TJ Canyons will fit just fine, so that's another good thing. Here's some pictures with the baby tires on for now though, just for a good laugh.

Let me know what you guys think of the wheels. I think with a set of 265/60 18s on them they will look really sharp on my XJ.

Haha, you need ya some Nitto Mud's to make it a true 18" wheeled mall crawler.

Well yeah the thing is, this is the mall crawler because the MJ is the dedicated trail rig, even though...it hasn't gotten a chance to see the trails yet...so I figure some moderate bling never hurt anyone.

Looks good. I think it'll look a whole lot better if you have a more agressive tire on there. If it's just a DD, I'd get some BFG's AT's on there. JMHO.

This is what it looks like right now again (disregard the change in front bumper). I know all about the BFG A/Ts

I love KOs but they don't seem to make them for an 18" rim, only the Rugged Trails, I may go for those if worse comes to worst.

Take out the lift, and they will look perfect.

Whats the backspacing on those wheels?
I can't take off the lift, I don't like the look of stock XJs anymore, no matter what their purpose in life is. I don't know on bs, is there an easy way to measure it?

they dont look to bad. From the side you get the look of the land rover sport.
Like I said, wrapped in some bigger rubbers I'm pretty sure they'll look great, with the small tires though it just has a strange look and stance. I could kinda see the Rover look but...it's not enough to bother me.

The Canyons are back on it right now, they will be the winter wheels while the R/Ts will be the summer ones. I won't put the R/Ts back on until I have bigger tires. I'm not set one way or the other until I get bigger tires though because I don't think this is a fair portrayal of the R/Ts on a Jeep yet. I appreciate the opinion though.

Get some Revos.
I know I know what Revos are but I'm drawing a blank right now. What are they again?

bridgestone dueller revo? awesome tread pattern for true all terrain driving.

I'm with ya on a stock looking... not quite right... after seeing a lifted one. Even if its not a trail rig, a lifted XJ with proper sized tires looks kick ash.
I don't mind the look of the new rims at all, with the right set of rubber and it'll look even better.

Okay, now I remember.

Yeah I just think completely stock they have a really strange stance. Even ZJ coils and one AAL help out immensely, even with 235s or so. As far as my rims go, thanks, I really appreciate it. I think it'll look good with the right size tires also, as of right now, the Canyons and 31"s are back on though. I just had to see that last night's investment wasn't a waste.

You know Collin, I've love just about everything you've done to all your Jeeps, and really like the 99 (for obvious reasons :) ), but I have to agree here. Somethin about those R/T wheels just doesn't hit right....not just yet. Maybe more aggressive/taller tires are the answer.

What happened to the chromage up front?

Tim,
I was being a jackass posting it up with the 225s on it, it was more for a laugh than anything. I thought it looked really dumb when I got done swapping the wheels out today, but I can tell with bigger tires I will like the R/Ts. The chrome is on my MJ now that also has a 97+ header panel. I just liked it a little better on the silver than the green. Hope this clears up some contrafusionism.

Yeah I just priced new BFG Rugged trails at $125 a piece at Sam's Club. I'm trying to find a used set though since I'll only be running these half of the year. I'm also debating turning them around and selling them because I've seen a set of four as nice as I have pull $600!!! I don't know yet though, I do like them, but I could use the cash too.

Well news update on the Charger wheels/tires. I put them on Craigslist for $700 hoping someone with a passenger car wants them that bad. If they don't go for that I had a guy contact me with 4 265/65/18 50% tread life BFG Rugged Trails (funny, exactly what I wanted). He didn't know what to ask and I didn't know what to offer so I said I'd call him back. I want to give my listing on Craigslist time to see if the wheels/small tires will sell for that much. Assuming they don't though how much do you guys think I should offer him for those 4 BFGs? $150 sound right? They're $128.00 a piece brand new.
