carpet is for the weak

Well today I finally got tired of my Jeep smelling like dog. The previous owners apparently never vacuumed the thing and there was dog hair so embedded in the carpet I couldn't get it out to save my life. Vacuumed it multiple times, and no amount a febreeze would get the smeel of dog out of it. Solution? Remove the carpet, duh. I took out the center colsole and seat and ripped the main peice of carpeting out of the cab. I left the rear carpet in for the hatch as thats where I keep my dog. I got it vacuumed as well as I could. I haven't put the center console back in just yet as I'm going to take it into my work and power wash it. I'm thinking of getting some "do-it-yourself" bedliner to coat the floor with. It will be cheaper than getting a new carpet, and will stand up better after I remove the doors. I'm hoping if I apply it good and thick it'll still make for decent sound deadening.

Dont touch your leg to the tranny tunnel after driving a long ways, unless you like the smell of burned flesh.

I put some Herc in my XJ. The interior became loud, hot and annoying.

Or you could come get the carpet outta the parts rig your rear seat came out of........ it smells like burritos. Much better than stinky dog. :D

Seriously though, the carpet in that rig is in really good shape and it's gray.

Lemme know.

I had the same problem from my dog getting sick in mine. !!!1

I just took it out and presure washed it then let it dry good and put it back in. Worked great

At least wrap the exhaust pipe from the manifold colletor to the cat. A place called "On Track" sells 6" wide wrap by the foot for $3.25. You want the wide stuff because it's easy to wrap. I gotta agree that carpet would be best.

what would be the best replacement for carpet? some sort of spray on? what about some sort of rubber-like stuff?

I'll be going with Herculiner Roll-on bedliner. The problem with rubberised undercoating is that it tends to get really soft in the summer heat. Found this out the hard way after using it to line my tool cart.

If you do Herculine it I suggest lots and lots of ventalation. I did the idside of my Cj5 not too long ago and that shit will get you high fast.
