Caribou Creek Jan 3rd.

Square One:
All the open trails that I feel would be safe/doable in the snow in Boulder County:
Bright trail
Castle Gultch
Johnny Park Rd.
Pennsylvania Gulch
Sugarloaf Mountain
Switzerland Trail

Also I was up snowboarding at Eldora yesterday and there really wasnt a huge amount of snow around.

yeah i work in boulder everyday and there isnt much snow up here RIGHT NOW. what i'm worried about is it dumping on the trail before the 3rd. i looked at a 10 day forecast and were supposed to get snow in boulder the day after christmas, but its supposed to be sunny and "warm up" after that. but that is a ten day forecast and is likely to change.

how about we plan for johhny park road, but have a back up run from the list that hubbazoot just listed incase there is alot of snow?

lol, at this point i dont care what we run, i just want to go!

Alright, we'll plan for johnny park road.

I'll join in on a Jonny Park run and maybe consider Pole Hill Road, closer to Estes for after. It's a Class 4 road and gets plowed last and goes all the way down to Carter Lake & Berthoud area. Oops, maybe not, no chains this year.

I'd say no, but I have strap to get tugged with.

If this trip is still on I want to come along. I have a mini DV camera and just bought an iMac. Meaning, I want to ride along and video the day if that is alright with everyone and then post the video here and on You tube.

Alright where are we going to meet?
I recommend meeting in Boulder where cell phones still work. That gives late-comers and no-shows the opportunity to communicate before the group heads up the canyon.

Sweet-talk someone with a working winch to make this run and I might be enticed. :)

I am out for the run, not only do I not have a very good working LSD in the rear right now it is cold and I hate the cold in my older age..........my butt cheeks pucker too much when it is cold, not to forget to mention the arthritis ..........................:conceited...............

:D

so... what trail did we decide on?

we should definitly meet at the base of the canyon somewhere for the stated cell phone issue. there is a safeway with a starbucks on 28th and arapahoe. people could get last minute food/drink there if they wanted and the parking lot should give us plenty of room to meet up without taking up too much space.

who knows how to get to the trail head?
