Car hauler with out springs?

I have seen them but never towed one. Think one would tow like crap behind a 30' class A motorhome?

The reason I ask is because I was given a set of 3500# stub spindles with hubs and brakes. My plan is to make an ultra lite trailer, with the axles as part of the frame and some of those 7-14.5 mobile home tires. We use them where I work so i can get them cheep. The tires them self are very lite and are 12 ply as hard as a damn rock. I'm hoping that with this combo the trailer will be lite and roll real easy saving gas.

My motorhome is a 97 Ford F-53 22,500lb chassis 255hp and weighs about 13,000 ready to camp. I am rated to tow 5,000 that's another reason I need to keep the trailer weight down. I don't want to get into modding the hitch setup on the motorhome quite yet.

If you are talking tow dolly, I used one for years and it works fine. It is far more stable than any trailer.

That is the tongue weight on my old class A, on my diesel pusher it has a higher weight. Check your hitch for the TONGUE weight.

My max tow weight is 5k and tongue weight is like 500lbs with out a weight distribution hitch.
It's not a pusher it's a 460 gasser.

I suppose I could build the trailer and bolt the axles on to see how it tows. And if things don't work out I can buy the spring kit. Now that I think of it springs and hangers can't weigh more then a 150lbs or so.

I would check into upgrading your hitch, my tow car is over your hitch weight.
Your tongue weight is what going to kill you on this. What is your jeeps weight? Now add your jeep to the trailer and see what the tongue weight is.

Good luck.

no suspension on the trailer makes for a very bouncy tow

And unless you can dial the hitch height just right, any angle up or down will put more stress on one pair of tires than the other, and could cause tire blow out or poor wear.

Sounds like a bad idea unless the set up was only for short tows.

And when you tow the trailer empty it will likely only spend 1/2 the time on the ground.

The one I used was a single axle. We used to tow a striped out honda for hornet raceing
