The Northern Virginia Jeepers Association is holding its 5th annual technical skills day at Manassas Jeep next weekend. There will be an obstacle course, a car crush, winch operation and safety demo, Hi-Lift demo, live band and food. It all free (except for the food). If you are in the area stop on by.

It looks like a great opportunity to learn and perfect existing wheeling skills. That looks like it would be a fun time.

Its urban offroading.. Flex out on some curbs.. offcamber on a parking garage.. test your drive over nissan skills, Drift your jeep!

Actually we get a lot of winch practice during the event. Folks get stuck on the hill on the back side of the course all the time. Even the experienced wheelers find it hard to get their tires on the obstacles with out a spotter. The event is designed for new Jeepers which as you can imagine in the DC area often have no idea how to turn on the lockers or disconnect in a JK Rubicon let alone how to pick a line but its difficult enough that its a challenge for experienced drivers get through without a spotter. The end of the course is a morass of cut up railroad ties and other smaller obstacles that they have to self spot through. The course takes folks that dont know jack about driving off road and makes them competent/confident enough to take on blue trails.
