Car amp grounding issue

Anyone else have issues trying to get a good ground in their Jeep?

Just got an amp off CL, was told it works. I get power light when not grounded, once I bolt down the ground wire, no power. I tested the power/REM wires with my multimeter and get good readings...

I'm wondering if my other ground points on the Jeep are too crappy for the amp to ground properly? Do I need to go through and replace my battery cables (already have some upgraded cables I need to install anyways) and clean up all the grounding surfaces?

hook a test light to the power wire and tap your ground wire. if it lights up good you have a good ground. you should not get a power light when there is no ground. if you do and your speaker is hooked up you most likely have a blown amp. Any stereo repair shop should be able to test your amp for you.

Went and had it tested at a shop... it is the amp. Guy said he'd refund my money back, so we'll see how that goes...apparently the guy had it stored in the garage over winter so maybe freezing temps had something to play in all this =/
