I Have read about the dunes, and Tillamook State forest, but am wondering about trail closures I have read about in TSF and would also like suggestions for other areas. I have never wheeled in Washington or Oregon, but have car-camped partway down the coast and though the Columbia gorge and Mt. St. Helens area a couple of times-- what beautiful states!

I am trying to put together a trip itinerary for the last week of March 2011 and am looking for suggestions -- the group (just me so far :S ) will likely be a few rock-oriented guys from BC looking for some challenging trails and to try out the sand!

Thanks for any input, suggestions, and advice you can give! :)

If you want to play in sand, skip sand lake, just south of Tillamook. Head south to big sand on the southern coast, a lot more fun.

As far as trail closures, someone here will post up with some better ideas, its been a year or two since I have gone wheeling, sand stole my wallet for a while.

I've always wanted to plan an "Ironman" wheeling trip that included a good portion of the major OHV areas in Oregon and Washington. For example start with Naches, then move to Evans Creek, Elbe Hills, TSF, and then finish the trip out on the Sand. Each day brings a new OHV area.

As for trail closures, TSF is open year round. A few trails may be closed for winter, but most of the 4x4 trails stay open. I did notice at Evans Creek the Forest Service were installing a new seasonal closure sign for the park, December - March.

Great info, thanks! I will do some research on those other areas as well.

IN ! Although, I would suggest making it a tad longer. Travel Day - Day at Naches - Travel Day - Day at Evans / Evening travel to Elbe - Wheel Elbe / Evening Drive to TSF - TSF -Travel to Dunes.

I think, this should be on the books for next summer/Spring.

Sorry... back to normal thread subject matter.
