Can anyone identify this inline 6?

It looks like an old fomoco. I know on way to tell for sure... see if it will start.

Do you know what year, or close to what year it is? Looks like early 60s or so? Found this on the web:

Engines:

I can tell you what it's not - it's not any of the "L6" engines. When used in that manner, "L" denotes a flat head engine - and they're just that. The cylinder head is a flat piece of cast iron, with a little machining done.

Can you find any casting numbers on the block? Or even on the head or intake? Assuming no parts mixmastering, I can probably run one of those three through my list and see what I can find. Some work has been done to it tho - I don't think the Delco SI alternator came around until the mid-1970's - so that's been replaced. Also, it may have been converted from 6V to 12V - but I'll know more once I run the numbers...

That is a 1962-89 Chevy six, it could be a 194, 230, 250, or 292 judging by the valve cover ;)---------Hans
