Can anyone figure out how UPS/FedEx get anything done?

I'd be all *OVER* that customer service rep from Dell. It's not my stinkin' problem how it gets shipped, it's theirs.
I figured to wait a couple of days, since it was still within the shipping window. Computer came today, no problem. Still don't know why the UPS waybill number wouldn't show up on their tracking, but done is done.

I guess tomorrow we'll be snowed in, so I'll have time to get the new monster set up.

i had a stock t-case skid delivered to me via ups. it wasn't in a box but a thick flexible sheath type deal - the shipper must have thought, oh its a skid plate for petes sake - what could happen to it? It was delivered to me completely flat. I don't know how that happened. I spent an hour in the driveway with bricks and wooden boards driving over it various ways to bend it back to shape.

Just got through shipping out some flares to one of the members in LV, NV a wierd shaped flat box, UPS wanted 38.00 to ship, DHL was 22.00........another reason BROWN SUCKS.......for me they are usually 25 ot 30% higher than DHL

ive never (knock on wood) really had any problems w/ UPS..i was movin furniture one day and the UPS guy helped me move my entertainment center..which i thought was nice. but i have had troubles with USPS...i shipped a locker back for warrenty through them and they had no way to track it after it was lost...why? because the lady at the desk was new or something (drunk?) and didnt clear out her screen, so apparently i paied for the package pickup of the person infront of me. after a few weeks i went and asked what was going on and the lady at the counter told me that the package i shiped was picked up on the same day at the same counter. lol. it eventually got to where it needed to go but i thought it was effed up what the teller lady did

Every delivery service has it's ups and downs. I doubt that any particular company is significantly better overall than any other.

Having said that...... the UPS delivery guy back home at my folks has been delivering there for more than 20 years. And even 15 years after I moved out, still recognizes me when I got parts overnighted there.

Agreed, I think a large part of it depends on your driver. My driver, two addresses ago, was the best one I've ever had. Was on the delivery end of my whole XJ buildup. Was very personable, just an overall great guy. A good UPS guy is worth it's weight in gold.

At that same address, FedEx couldn't find my place one time. Said they tried to deliver it twice. For the third time, I said just to leave it at the office and I'd go get the damn thing. The next day when it wasn't there, they said they tried to deliver it and apparently I had moved. Really? news to me. Two weeks later I got another package coming FedEx, arrived with no problems. And guess what, I was in the same spot I was the last time................:twak:

My current and last UPS drivers have been lazy SOBs, and thats all I have to say about that.

I have shipped at least 1 package with UPS every week for 3 years....never had a problem. The only issue I had was shipping a $82,000 video encoder....I had to wait for a "supervisor" to check it before they would insure it...like the guy knew if it was working.

Here's a nice clip. Go here and click on the video titled "Police dash cam video of Ohio interstate crash".

I put in 10 years with FedEx and I treated each package as if it were my own. Really. But sadly, many people did not share my idealism. And I have seen a few of my former co-workers get arrested on the job for doing stupid things.

Now that I'm not in the "business", I am having some issues with UPS. The regular driver is a good guy. But the driver that covers for him on his day off says he attempts deliveries on my packages when he doesn't even try. First time was right before Christmas, and that really pissed me off.

I've actually had pretty good luck with the USPS. But I've worked for them too and have seen what happens to packages.

I agree, I think the drivers are a large factor. Out here I've had no real complaints about FedEx, UPS or DHL/Airborne, although I don't think UPS has been quite as good in the past year since Armand the UPS driver, who worked the route for a good 20 years or more, retired. He knew not only where everybody lived, but where everybody wanted their stuff left if they weren't home.

how about this....

bilstein 7100s off ebay, shipped from ventura to san deigo... i didnt want to make the 5 hour drive.

came on the 15th i wasnt there, ups left a note saying theyd be back same time following day......

16th came.....wife was home.....all day...no ups.

checked the tracking number and called ups...

turns out the driver placed the package in a bush near my door......

i never signed for it, i never recived it.

$100 is all ups will cover, how am i supposed to buy bilsteins for $100? let alone 7100s!

im thinkin ill take the ups guys wallet and mabey he will have some cash in there from selling all the packages he sells on ebay and craigslist.

Watch Ebay closely, I'll bet you can buy them again. Maybe he will deliver them to you.

I think it could be kinda fun, like a hide and seek.

I spent some time in 29 stumps (I never saw 29 palm trees though). I was still swabbing sand out of my ears for two weeks after a got out.

UPS only covers 100.00 for free, but insures to much higher amounts

But if the driver left it in the bushes... you think they would be like hmm responisibilty check?

I've never really had problems getting stuff delivered. I do hate the Oh sorry we missed you, so you set up times for them to show, and thye don't.
