Hi Guys
My wife has NO interest in off-roading. When she was younger she was in 2 accidents, both roll overs,1 with her ex boyfriend wheeling and 1 with her brother. She has tried to go with me but she FREAKS out, even at Prairie city!! So she asked if our group does anything that is not off-road related.
So i'm thinking maybe a chapter wide whole family camping trip may be in order.
I think something like sequoia national forest may be central to most folks in the chapter.
I'm open to any ideas, My favorite camping place is Memorial park near La Honda.
Lots of stuff for women & kids to do. They have hot showers and a little store for the afternoon ice cream snack. Lots of hiking, Swimming and its only 15min from the beach. The rangers are really cool, you can drink as long as you don't get TOO loud.

I'm thinking early May sometime.

My wife and I like going to Dinkey Creek. Its up in the sierras about 1 hr from fresno in the 6000' elevation range....Its a beautiful ride and a nice place to camp (family friendly).
In May it can be pretty cold, I was there last early June and the nights where in the 30's

....on the plus side its about 10 minutes from some great weeling places ;)

......I've never done it, but Yosemite would be another kewl spot....and after all the snow this year, the water falls are going to be crazy....hard to get reservations though.

Meadow Lake at the end of the Fordyce Trail is a great place to set up camp for the family. Nice campground and you can do day runs down to WH 3 and back without the family.

That would actually be a very good idea for poeple who didn't want to wheel, but wanted to meet up with a group doing Fordyce. This way the wheelers and non-wheelers can congregate easily. This is important for me this year as my 3 month olds ginormous head can not be supprted by his rather spindly neck properly for harder trail running.

Dude, My kid was 11lbs 4.5 oz. when he was born . He could not hold his head up until he was about 3 yrs old:shhh:

x2 on Dinky Creek. That honey mooners pool is cold during early spring. I almost lost my dog in that pool.
Heres me and mines favorite place, its about 2 hours from Fresno.
Shoot out towards Pine Flat Lake. Pass up Pine Flat Lake and stay on paved road. there are a couple of camp sites, pass those up. Travel 4 miles on a dirt road and dont cross any bridges. To your left as you come off a steep grade there is a spot called "Endless Eddie". It is an eddie on the Kings River that spans 200' across. You can sit in this 30' deep pool on your tube and float all day doing circles in this pool. There is good camping there as well, with good shade. It is my favorite spot to camp, and I frequent it at least monthly during the summer. The water is cool, and saves you from the sweltering heat. You can take the Balch Camp road up to Shaver area, its about 1.5 hours from the Kings River.
