"FAST-Aid is proud to be leading the efforts of the MDR California 200 Memorial Event at the Slash-X Ranch Café in Barstow, CA on Saturday August 13th from 2pm-9pm. The amazing statue that was revealed at the Off-Road Expo last October will be set into the ground at a permanent memorial spot for all to enjoy. “The whole concept is meaningful: a figure 8 with the Ribbon Memorial sitting at the very top. Eight trees dedicated to those lost surround it, with 22 lights going up the walkway and 22 shrubs planted to represent the injured,” said Lucas Hand, project leader for FAST-Aid."

OMG!

Crying as I type.... /X is one of the most iconic places in Johnson Valley... Anyone who has spent any amount of time off-roading out there surely has stopped in for a burger or a beer.....

Brian was such a nice guy..... One Friday after Thanksgiving 3 of us rode our bikes from Cougar Butte to /X. It's about 25 miles, we left late, and got a little lost.

It was after 3 pm when we arrived and Brian was locking the door to go home. He saw us ride up and waited..... Asked us what we wanted and we told him we were stopping in for a beer..... He unlocked the door, went back inside and brought out a six-pack of ice cold Bud and smiled as he handed it to us.... When we asked him how much, he said he had already shut down the registers..... On the house.....

Godspeed Brian Griffin Lynn. You will be missed....

Re: ***Prayers & Thoughts Needed for the Lynn/SlashX family***

I sit at my keyboard with a heavy heart tonight. Many man hours and the hard work of a lot of people was supposed to culminate in a wonderful event this weekend at Slash X. This was supposed to serve as a day of remembrance, of healing, and of closure.

Then tragedy struck, again. Brian Lynn (owner of Slash X) was killed today in a terrible car accident just outside of the ranch. His wife was in the vehicle with him and she is in bad shape but alive and fighting.

This unfortunate event has prompted a very last minute change of plans for the weekend.

The unveiling of the memorial will still happen at 6pm and the Lynn family will still be letting us use their property for the event however, SLASH X will be officially closed. This means there will be no access to the restaurant, or bar. The planned BBQ is also canceled and were not having a band out there either. We will still have access to the porta pottys and the family has asked that we respect their property while they deal with this tragedy.

Lucas Hand (FAST-AID V.P.) is out there right now and as I have more information I will relay it here.

Please keep the Lynn family in your prayers...

I was just coming to post this...I was at a loss for words when I heard about it. It's truly sad, my prayers go out to the Lynn/slashX family.
Rest In Peace Brian
