Phil and I will be there breaking my rig again...:gee:

for directions map quest:
Browns Valley Truck & RV Performance Center
5003 State Hwy 20, Browns Valley, CA

September 20th and 21st... Probably gates open at 9:00am and action starts at 10:00am...
They have had a concession stand at all the events up untill now - with REALLY good burgers and hot dogs, chips, sodas... party1:

This is the last event of the season, and It'll be interesting to compare our scores from the first event at the same venue to these at the end of the season...

Phil and I are gunning for a 2nd place finish :scottm:- and really want to finish better than either Dennis Stansfield or Jeff Mello (6? time Stock Mod national champion) who have beaten us every competition we've been in...:bawl:

Phil and I are 95% sure we have 3rd place wraped up for the series points, so regardless of mass suckage, we should be coming home with a trophy...

Grab a cooler full of Bud Light, and head out for a weekend of watching rigs cooler than mine drive over stuff that I cant!

or - if you've got a caged rig on 35's and wanna compete - come on out and represent the station waggons!
or - if you've got a caged rig on 36-40's with 75% of your body or more, compete in the 36-40 full body against the POR member Welderboy...
or - if youve cut your junk to pieces, and only have a firewall and floor pan, compete in the 36-40 buggy class with the Rage 4th team (Yoder, Mello, Whitford), Jessie Haines (Werock West Unlimited class winner), John Hall, Bill Kuntz of torchmate with Mike Shaffer of shaffers offroad spotting...

there is an over 40 sportsman class for the guys with bigger tires than balls...

and an unlimited class that Derek Trent (Owner of Trent Fab), Brent Bradshaw (Owner of Trail Tough), Matt Messer (Owner of Trail Gear) and a few others run in will all be running all day long - so lots of action - if you dont just want to watch the little guys...

Saturday I will definately be driving the rig into the first course under power... after that - depending on how the rig gets chewed up, it might be a different story?

Sunday will have the awards ceremony, and you will know who won the event, and the series if you care... The pro-mod class has some tight battles, and will be interesting to watch...

Current series Standings -

Phil and I run in the 35's and under class (my name is Bryan Bennett...) and we're pretty much solidly in third place...

both days will have TONS of action in all the classes...

more information is available at:

just a little bump here...

going to Phil's house right now, to see why my junk doesn't turn left as much as it turns right, and give the rig a once over before the big event this weekend!

If you come, bring an extra bud light for me and Phil, and I might trade you a $5 off at the gate coupon!

"Your gunna roll!"

I didn't roll this time! But Browns Valley proved to be the most damaging venue to my rig this season... rolled twice at the first one, and broke a traction bar...

Broke a rear shaft and a steering box this time...

Phil said you stopped by and said hello - Thanks for coming out!

do you have any bigger or higher res versions of these pictures?
I had no idea my rear tire was folded over that much when the shaft let go!

report from the weekend -

Saturday started like most competitions did for us - finished 1 course...
Blew the hydraulics out of a steering box and head dead power steering...

Sunday was MUCH better - We DNF'd the first course because the line was hella jacked, and we ran out of time, but finished the other 3! Scores of 22, 7 and 15.
Toasted a stock 32 year old 31 spline shaft doing a rear dig pinned against a tree, but got lined up enough to get out of the course only taking 2 cones!
hauled but back to the trailer, pulled the broken attached half out, tried using a magnet to get the broken chunk out... didnt work...
pulled the other axle shaft and tried pushing the broken piece out forgetting that the ford 9 is a 2 cross shaft design... ended up pulling the 3rd member, bearing caps, ring gear and seperating the case halves to get the broken piece out - and it split the side gear of the locker...
Slapped it all back together with the help of Phil, dad, Katie, and Max without loctite, a torque wrench, or a dial indicator (my gears are probably fawked), filled it with 1 quart of 80-90 and 2 quarts of 10-40, drove off the jackstands instead of using a jack, and hauled ASS back to the next course after using all my breakdown time... Barely made it in time...

I had a great weekend, and am really learning how to use the rear dig to its full potential - now I need a new rear axle that can handle it

some shots -

CalROCS is the best!

I am excited to work on the car this winter and come back more ready for next year! This winter should be full of new and innovative fab work.

Opie did a hell of a job driving this season, and at times I busted my ass spotting and stacking.

I am excited to drink beer and watch Opie work on the car this winter while Liz studies for the PE and come back more ready for next year! This winter should be full of new and innovative fab work.

I hope so too!:gee:
