I finally got around to having the D44 I bought a while back installed - no driveway plus the new job eating up my time meant handing it over to have the work done, so stuff sat for longer than planned while I got the cash together for the work. Had 4.10 gears, ECTEDs at both ends, and a Teraflex rear disc conversion done at the same time; it's all shaping up pretty nicely. Sorry for the crappy cameraphone pictures, but they mostly get the idea across:
I'm pretty sure this axle wasn't an option in 2000. Note the relocated shock mounts

Here's the driver's side - you can see how the handbrake does its thing.
Mmmm, ECTED goodness.
The D30's ECTED. The camera may suck, but I like the electroluminescent effect it gave the RTV. Now I just need the subwoofer to go with it.
Won't have the XJ back in time for the weekend (parts delays), but am really looking forward to playing with the new stuff once it's in my hands again.
Oh, and the one thing in all of this that didn't happen: retaining the ABS for on-road use. I couldn't find tone rings before the Jeep had to go into the shop, so I just had them tie the sensors up out of the way and pull the relay. I've got another set of shafts, so figure I'll just get the rings onto them and swap out whenever I feel like it. I kinda suspect that with the discs, though, the ABS won't be 100% necessary
