Ok to start this out I got to tell you I got my XJ for $500 from a guy that floped it and his dad would not let him keep it. So I thought it would be a good way to make Mods on a POS before I mess up my other Heep!

the dude that I got the XJ from, I am the Dork in the Ugly hat and that is my TJ in the back right

the floped XJ for $500 was almost worth it!

so first thing to make was a front bumper

So I got a bent rusty POS I have had sitting around (I think Travis left it at my house) put what I pulled off on it and used some sope stone to trace it out

Hooked my Plasma Cutter up to 220 (YEAH the 110 Plug that is 220 this is so bad to do, all it takes is one person to hook up the 110 tool to it and . . . )

47b4db11b3127ccebf0c14c0e1e90000002613

So after about 1 hour of grinding the rust off I started marking the sh!t up

the 2 things to hold the bumper on
47b4db11b3127ccebf0c2a6fe1590000001610

47b4db10b3127ccebf0c2176b9690000001610

here is the back side you can see how I cut the thing with the shackel mount all ready tacked on
47b4db11b3127ccebf0c2c52e1670000001610

Still have to sand it and paint it but it shold be done this week

this has been a learing project with some of the tools, lots of work but it has been fun so far.

I think it will make the jeep worth less then it is already but . . . :anon:

looks great! man i wish i had a plasma cutter...

only thing I woulda done different is reverse the way you did the hitch so that anything sticking out is on the inside. like what Billy (JeepFreak21) did:
Yeah there is a few things I would do diffrent NOW!
I hate the cut on the 2x4, that photo you posted has a better look then the 45 I did. But it is a start, now I got to go rock rash the thing and find out how bad my welds are! I used my HoFart 110 for the little crap and a 220 buz box stick welder from the 1970's for the deep crap. I think I need about 10 more years before I get any good at it.

Any other thoughts from anyone?
Go ahead and slam it all you want, I learn alot more from people giving me crap! I don't have an ego about this, so flame away!

Pesky livers tend to get in the way........

Liver free or die!

CRASH

not to be an a$$ but i think i found the guy who welded on my '45 willys. it took me 3 days and 5 grinding wheels to get those weld off. :D

Kernel, you really need to see my welds up close to see how ugly they really are!

I think I might spend 3 days and 5 grinding wheels just to get the crap flat, then go at it with the 110 mig and try to make it look nice!

i'll have to find a pic of the front bumper on the mb. i think the guy might have welded on battleships before he got ahold of the willys. at one point i think the weld was an 1" think. :twak:

my welds aren't any better.

daammmn.......nice bumper by the way :D hey, i bet you can weld better'n i can (i've never done it) you're a step ahead of me:D

So I just finished it, first try at an XJ bumper so it still has some bugs but I built it, I love it and it is all kinds of UGLY! :gee:

Sorry all the photos have the sun in the back so hard to see what the F is going on with it but . . . I will get more photos when the sun is in line with it!

So as I said before I learn more when people talk crap about it, Flame all you want, tell me what I did wrong so I don't do it again!

So Far, the hitch thing should be sucked in, the top should be closer to the grill, and it should be pushed back as close as posible. I hate the angle from the 2x4 to the 2x2, the longer ones just look nicer. Please all your thoughts are a big help, I will not cry too much if you hate the design!:bawl:
