I have a brand new X-Line still in the bag from the Off Road Only

The best price I found on the net was: $289.00 + tax and shipping.

I don't want to ship because I am too lazy to get off my but and go to the post office, you want it shipped find someone to pick it up and ship it.
I am asking $275, I am in the San Jose Area.
The X-line marketing pitch:
xline_hook.jpg

"X-Line™ is the best winch line replacement available. It’s safer, stronger, lighter, and easier to handle than steel cable.
X-Line™ is rated at 18,000 pounds and comes with a 24,000 pound locking safety hook. The tensile strength of X-Line™ is 28g/de(24.7cn/dtex,350kg/mm2), which is 8 times as strong as steel and 3 times as strong as fiberglass, polyester and nylon of the same weight.

X-Line™ can handle the heat, unlike the competition! It has a decomposition temperature of 932°F, and can be used at 400°F for long periods of time. Even at 490°F, it maintains more than half of its tensile strength that was measured at room temperature. This is 3 times better than UHMWPE fibers currently in use and has been a major concern by winch manufactures regarding the use of fiber ropes.

X-Line™ exhibits high resistance to both acids, alkalis and organic solvents. It is also resistant to sea water and steam.

X-Line™ is made from copolymers PPTA(poly-paraphenylene terephthalamide).

X-Line™ has a 3/8” diameter and comes in standard lengths of 100'

You should not use X-Line with a conventional Hawse or roller fairlead.
We highly recommend the an X-Line Fairlead."

I can't sell it, I can't! I have got a few of your PM's so here is my story:

I got the X-Line back in November, my lazy ass took a month to put it on because I had to pull the bumper and winch mount on my TJ (yeah no XJ a TJ)

I got the line on and in January I had 2 or 3 light pulls with it no big deal, then I went snow wheeling in Febuary and the line went to shit. I was deap in snow, no rocks or nothing, but I was to the frame and stuck good. A friend got in front of me and I put the X-Line on his front bumper, I pulled hard and the line frayed in one spot about 10 feet out from the fairlead. We used another winch with the "MasterPull" line and pulled my shit out. We wheeled for a few more hours and the trip went to sh!t, the snow and mud was too much and I was F'ed because I did not trust my winch line. I got back home and e-mailed Mike at 4x4rockshop (I got the line from him) he talked to Steve at Off Road Only. Mike sent me an e-mail with Steves contact info and said to talk to the manufacture directly. I picked up a phone and called him, he asked what I had done to the rope and the history of what it had been thrue. Then he asked me to take some photos of it, I did and e-mailed him. Steve sent me an e-mail back that is his e-mail at the end of this:

An e-mail I sent to Off Road Only:
On 11/5/2004 I got the X- Line Combo Kit - XFL-001 Rear Bolt Fairlead from Mike at 4x4rockshop. I got the rear bolt fairlead and so I had to pull my bumper and winch off to get it on, so because I am lazy I did not get it installed until mid December.
On 1/15/05 I was at Hollister hills OHV park in California and had 2 light pulls on the rope. First I pulled a Jeep TJ about one to two foot back, to get him off his stearing and up on a rock.
Photo of the TJ I pulled 1 to 2 feet back:

Then later on the same day I pulled a Toyota back about 15-20 feet, not a hard pull just enough to help his open/open diffs and keep him moving.

The rope seemed fine, I did not look at it that close but when I re-spooled it I saw nothing wrong with it.

Then on 2/19/05 I got my self stuck in snow, about 2 feet, I put the end onto another Jeep and started winching, with both axles locked and 4 tires spinning, the warn 9000i winch started to pull with a strong force, I felt a pop and my jeep rocked, so I stopped and let the tension off the rope.

I got out and about 5 feet out from the fairlead the rope was more then half ripped apart. I was able to pull some of the threads off the line at the weak spot with little effort. We stopped using my winch and another jeep pulled me with the master pull line and worked me out of the stuck.
On 2/23/05 I sent a e-mail to Mike at 4x4rockshop about the x-line, he responded by telling me he had talked to Off Road Only and asked me to contact Steve. After calling Steve and trying to explain what had happened he asked me to take some photos and send by e-mail.
On 2/24/05 I took the line out and snapped photos of the part of the rope that went bad.

Steve then e-mailed back with the e-mail at the end of this message. I will send the rope back once I receive a replacement for his inspection. I hope this was just a freak defect and will not happen again, I am also glad I was not in a life threatening recovery.

After talking to people they all said sell the crap, try to get your money back, or at least some. I don't feel good about this product, I would not trust my life to it, so I can't sell it, even if it is from the manufacture.
OK so I am not saying that it is a bad product I will send the failed rope back to Steve at Off Road Only and maybe he knows what went wrong with this one rope, but I can't sell it, because I don't trust it myself.

I wish I could have got my money back

Hmmm, interesting story. One of the reasons I'm still using wire rope on my winch is I hadn't seen a synthetic winch rope that I'd really trust till recently(plus I'm too cheap).
I must say though that the Syn rope that Goatman is using is really nice. It's almost like wire rope, very stiff, and seems pretty abration resistant. It got a workout on BOTW.

Do you guys have any pics from BOTW yet? I'm really interested in seeing them as are many others here. Yeah, I have thought about getting syn rope too, but because it is so expensive, I just got a spare wire rope I carry with me all bundled up in the plastic wrap it shipped in, got it new never used from someone for like $40. Nice looking TJ David. What goodies does it have?

What rope does he have?

has anyone here ever use the X-line?
I am hoping I just got a POS rope, but I don't know if I trust it still.
