I finally sold my Turbo civic and just put down the deposit on its replacement project. It's a 1995 XJ. 125K, very clean, Auto, Dana 35 with ABS,and its red. Has a cracked manifold ( like the rest of them) Ice cold A/C, new brakes, power everything. I beat the guy down to $3400 out the door. That includes tax, title and reg.

Think I did ok?

I am ordering the RE6030, adjustable track bar, and some 4 degree shims the day I bring the truck home. I am also going to get some 31's on some wheels with a 4"-4.25" back spacing. I plan on going through the whole truck first. Tune up and all fluids changed.

Interested in your opinions on the purchase and my lift and wheel size choices.

Thanks,
David

Sounds to me like you did okay, I got my '90 from the original owner with 163k for $2800. Personally I think I kinda got raped, but with the way this thing runs you cant beat it. Welcome to the world of XJ. You'll be very happy with it. Ive had mine fro two years and still havent gotten around to lifting it. Been too busy buying computer parts among other things. Ive heard those RE kits are awesome. Do some searching around and you'll find a lot of good stuff about lifting these.

Yeah, I have been researching this for the past month. Hoping to Fab up some parts myself. It should be a fun project. Now I just have to find a place to go wheelin in CT or MA....

consider an ford exploder 8.8 rear swap. do a search for more info. you can get it with better brakes, lower gears, limited slip, etc. really fun and cheap project. i think that you will find the xj a really fun vehicle. fun to work on, fun to drive(on and off road), and if you want to make it really quick, that's a feasable option, too.
