Whats the deal with Borla not offering a directfit for the 97+ cherokees?? willthe older system fit??
Dynomax doesnt differntiate between years like that.. anyone??

Check Banks out

Matt,
If you're looking at headers check out the Banks header.

I;m not stressing a Header, not till mine cracks anyhow... I do like the Banks stiff... but I want a Borla CatBack System.... and no one has a number.. Borla doesnt even list it as fitting..WHY>!>!>!>!!>>

no direct fit for 97+

I called borla and talked to one of their technicians. They have no cat-back for a 97+, and nothing in the works. I searched high and low for one too and couldn't find anything. Quadratec has a dynomax cat-back for $119. Good luck.

yeah, i figured that already too,but I am trying ot figure, WHY, if Dynomax and Gibson offer an exhaust for the what, 90- current XJ, why wouldnt a Borla Exhaust for say, a 94 fit my 97, I mean, if its JUST a hanger or something I will make it fit...

Of all the Gibson stuff I have heard, I never fell in love with the sound. I can usualy spot a Borla system on a vehicle across the lot, just gotta fire it up and let it warm up.. something unmistakeable about Borla Stainless

i had the same problem, i was looking to get a borla but couldn't find one to fit my 00 xj. so i just got the dynomax system and cut ooff my catalytic converter and welded on a straight pipe. it sounds bad ass. add some headers and an intake to it and it'll be ever more bad ass.

I installed a replacement Borla header for a '92 (as the original Borla header developed some cracks where the pipes join) on my '98 since I had upgraded vehicles before replacing the header. I also installed the borla cat back (and cat) from the '92 onto the '98. However, I did have some issues. First, the O2 sensor placement in the replacement header was different than either the stock '98 piece or the original Borla piece. I had to extend the wiring harness and creat a way to route it past the header without it melting. Then the attachment to the cat uses a flange where the '98 used a clamp. I swapped brackets between the '92 and the '98 so the flange would fit just like it did in the '92...flange with bracket bolted to it that fits into a rubber hanger that is bolted to the bottom of the tranny. I also modified the '92 cat by installing an O2 sensor bung in it's output and then hooked everything up as it had been in the '92. As for the rear tip, I long ago cut it off as it wouldn't clear extended shackles. I also installed all the '98 pieces (header, bracket on bottom of tranny, cat, muffler, and tailpipe) on the '92. Fit just fine. I plugged the '98 cat O2 bung with a spark plug because it has the same thread! :) Jeff
