Boostwerks.com turbo XJ build...

I have a better question.
How's the turbo project coming along!!??

read:

Bump for a little update. I received my SYE and rebuild kit from JB conversions. Just waiting on my TW driveshaft to do the install. I wanted to make sure my TC could take the power before I did the turbo install. I should be doing the rebuild in a couple weeks, and turbo install a couple weeks after.

A turbo project isn't just about the turbo. ;)

True, but why call the thread "Boostwerks.com turbo XJ build" (indicating it was more of a public offering), Add restrictions for many of us (ie lift), than say something like "It's my build"?

How is calling it that a "public offering?" My company, my rig, my build. I'm not going to require a SYE or lift kit for every person that turbo's their jeep. It's simply what I want with my build.

I don't see how you ended up thinking there will be restrictions, even though giving up something to gain something is very common in the aftermarket industry (A/C with most SC kits for example). ;)

My point is... Chill out man. :smoker:

Yan doesn't want his excitement for your project(and possible products) to be in vain--send him a pic or two every now and then. Paz

Even the abandonment of the RMT represents progress. Not the fun kind, but the we're getting closer to the final project kind.

I knew your(Bryson) Jeep was lifted, will this whole thing ultimately only be for lifted XJs?

Reading this thread i have learned a few things, as well as everyone else....
1. We all know urban yan's feeling towards this build.
2. We all know urban yan just bought a new header. and doesn't want to get rid of it.
3. We all know that urban yan wants it to fit his XJ perfectly, out of the box, the first time.
4. We all know urban yan wants it done RIGHT NOW!!!

I'm curious as to where you've seen the title "Boostwerks.com turbo XJ build for urban yan"???

We'll reality check bro, it ain't gonna happen your way. This isn't Burger King. What you should do in this case is what thousands of other XJ owners have done over the years. BUILD IT YOURSELF!!!!

I spend countless hours and a lot of money building the front long arms on my XJ. And now i want a turbo. After getting this turbo manifold in place I'll check for clearance on the upper arm. If it hits, I will redesign the upper links. If i have have to redesign any number of the one off, built by me parts, on my XJ i will do it. I don't expect this to be a bolt on, run perfect on the first start turbo kit. I expect it to be a lot of work, a lot of cussing, a lot of beers in the garage with buddies trying to figure out how to make it work. but you know what? I'm gonna do it, cause I WANT A TURBO! and since this is over my head to build myself. I'll take whats available and MAKE IT FIT. Cause that's REAL JEEP OWNERS do.

you forgot
5. We all know urban yan's not ashamed to admit he can't build a turbo himself

and
6. We don't know urban yan's seen these promises before.

oh and
7. Now we know urban yan will hound Bryson until he keeps his word.

Your correct. I forgot you can't build a turbo. So I'm curious on your header that's now impossible to talk you out of, was it custom built to your specifications? or did you take what was offered and use it? Yes i understand that it probably didn't require any special modifications. What else have you done to your jeep? Anything at all that might require a tradeoff?

Ever heard the phrase "beggars can't be choosers"? in essence your begging for a turbo. So don't so picky and if it fits YOUR application.

6. We don't know urban yan's seen these promises before.

If you talking about Bryson's other turbo builds, i don't remember them being directly promising you anything? or do you have some sort of evidence that he has in fact promised you a custom built turbo designed around your criteria?

7. Now we know urban yan will hound Bryson until he keeps his word.

You're absolutely correct, we know this as well. This makes me wonder again?

Is it a Turbo MANIFOLD!!!! to build a complete turbo setup for a Jeep 4.0L engine. The fact that Bryson is building it for an XJ is convenient for him, as he owns one, and convenient for (some) of us, as we want one.

I wonder what would happen if he changes the title of the thread to "Boostwerks.com Jeep I6 turbo build" Would that still translate to "Custom designed for urban yan's Cherokee" ?

Lolz You're missing a massive part of this story, so by all means... keep running-off your mouth. It just makes this thread more interesting.

Can you guys actually take it to PM? Id like to not have to sort through all your arguments when I start looking for information in the near future.
x2
This is why people ask questions instead of searching... all the irrelevant crap...
which, ironically, I've just contributed to...

Totally with you there - I'd love to run 6psi on my XJ. When you run boost, who needs to re-gear? Or downshift?

6 psi is an arbitrary number.

Why, yes! It is! A gold star for you! Good job!

6 psi is a safe boost level on the 4.0 and ~40% over atmospheric pressure. I'm not an expert, but it isn't random that I'd go six instead of 8...
