Hello everyone! does anyone have any suggestions on books to buy? I'm looking for anything to do with rebuilding the motor, trans, axles, transfer case, and the electrical system

Contact 5-90 on his 4.0 book. Not really a book, but a large compilation of I6 info in a binder. I've used it many of times. And, yes the FSM for your year. A parts catalog may also help, they give illustrations for most parts on the vehicle.

Don't want to sound like a jerk, but a Haynes manual isn't exactly the pinnacle of information.

If you really wanted some great knowledge, you'd spring for an FSM.

The FSM is the first one you want. I would also recommend the Mopar Jeep Engines, Jeep 4x4 and Performance handbook by Jim Allen, Engine Builder's Handbook by Tom Monroe, Step by step guide to engine blueprinting by Rick Voegelin, and Engine Management and Advanced tuning by Greg Banish.
