Does any body know of a shop that does good body work in the Vacaville/Fairfield Area? Preferably someone who knows Jeeps. I am paying out of pocket, insurance wont cover it so not looking for top of the line. Just enough to get a window back in place. :helpme:

Which window? All the windows, well except the wiundshield, can be removed and installed fairly easy.

I replaced a windshield, not hard to put in, most auto shops have that nasty 3M Ribbon Sealer you use to glue it in. Link

Getting the window out SUCKS! Clean'in the old black sealer stuff out SUCKS! But if I can do it, I think most people can.

And low and behold the only window i have to replace is the windshield. all other windows stayed intacked. Even with a highlift jack and spare rear drive shaft in the back plus tools and what-nots.

You going to try to do this yourself?
I got a new window for about $90 and then another $10 for the sealer. You can get one of the windshield seal cutting tools or just use some piano wire to cut the sealant around the windshield.

Not a hard job.

Im Gonna try too. I am getting the window for free. The "Parts Collector" is gonna bring it to the Meet and Greet tonight in Dublin. So I might be able to get it knocked out as soon as Sat. Let it sit and cure, should be drivable 12 hours after that.

One of those tasks that requires alot of elbow grease and a few wire brushes with some solvent? uh oh. I am being hollered at. Gotta swing by Base to get gas and pay a bill before going to this Meet and Great in Dublin. I will keep you updated as to how the Charlie Foxtrot goes. First ever windshield replacement.

I used a high speed wire brush on mine! But some of the paint came off, also some of the metal. Rattle caned it and called it good, pulled out a BFH and beat the a-piller back so the new window would fit (sort-of).

My pillar isnt to off kilter, but right above the diver's seat. the seal around thnat area is a nice looking semicircle. Thats gonna be where a 2x4 and the rubber mallet come into play. just gotta get it straight and work the curve back into it. might take a awhile to feel my way around it.
