Body Work

DenT

NAXJA Forum User
My girlfriend and i backed into some dude driving his wife's hyundai Santa Fe (the mini SUV lookin thing) in seaside. the guy was nice enough to give us a chance to fix with without insurance. The plastic bumper has a scratch or two which i am hoping he'll overlook but we put a little dent on his rear fender. its a small indent about 2" in diameter perhaps a quarter inch in. no punctures and no crumples. its also right near the wheel well on a flat part. i feel that a body shop should be able to make quick work of it but who knows. i'll throw up a picture later

What i was wondering is if anyone knew a good place in northern jersey or even if you know approx this might ring up to.. thanks for reading

there it is.... whatcha think? (found my camera cord)

Don't sweat it. That repair shoulden't be too bad. I do see a pressure crease however, you want to hope they don't replace that whole fender. They should be able to retouch the paint on the bumper and I don't think the fender will need any paint.

~$250 - $750 would be my guess.

How long have you been writing Estimates? Refinish rear door? Maybe you ment "blend" but even that is not needed unless you have a bad painter, the damage is on the back of the qtr panel! And 4hrs on the quarter, maybe 3 at tops.

Your right I ment to put blend but it was a quick estimate. On the east coast 4 hrs is right, and its hard to tell from pics. Im just giving a worst case estimate. As for the blend, if you can get that gold color to match dead on with out a blend panel...More power to ya.

thanks for the input. seriously? wow.... i figured since the car was fairly new that the paint would be easy to match.. hell the paint isnt even that bad i betcha rubbing compound could take it out... y would they mess with the door? well i guess im no body work guy... wow... wish i could just fix the darn thing myself...

Over here its expected to be done without a blend. Guess they are just picky on this side. It's a fun job huh!:banghead:

DenT You can rub those marks off, But the quarter panel is still dented.

I manage a body shop and that's about what we would estimate here in Colorado. We would normally estimate to blend to the nearest adjacent panel if the damage was within 18" of the panel. And it's true that gold is a hard color too match.

I would also have R&I Rt. taillamp and may need to R&I quarter glass.

Quarter glass R&I can sometimes require a glass shop and cost $50 to $75 dollars.

This is all true and Looking back I didnt R&I the mud flaps either. But we are not usually that picky if the customer is paying out of pocket.

87xjco said $50-$75 to remone "glass" not tail lamp.

It's not like all this money goes straight to us, there is alot more to running a shop than you think.
