BR wants to go to JV. Post here. But he can't go for a month cause his rigs going to be saweeeet! Then he's going to San Diego, then he wants to do TDS, and Malakoff Diggins before the snow melts, but he really wants to do the hardcore trails since he's spent so much getting setup.

Sounds about right, thanks Jason. :) Please delete my other posts in the Planning thread Jes.

JV run to be held sometime in the next few months (winter/spring), who wants to go and when?

I'm going this weekend. You ready?

Dave, who are you going with? We were going to go last weekend, but I got behind getting my rig ready for vacation and so had to cancel the trip......it sucks to have to stay home and work on your junk rather than wheel it.

You've been hanging around in the Colorado chapter too much. We're rubbing off on you. :)

BTW, Big Red, one real good way to break into running the JV trails is to attend the annual JV event called Fun in the Desert. It's always on Veteran's Day weekend which is the 1st or 2nd weekend of Oct. Plan to attend that for sure, then whatever else comes up.

One problem for JV newbies is that there aren't many organized runs out there. Most of the runs are informal runs with friends, and it's much more fun with a smaller group than a larger group so the runs don't get posted anywhere.

Sometime in the next year I think I'll organize a NAXJA JV run. The problem for us JV regulars is that it's more fun for us to just go out there and run and not go with a larger, organized group. So, we end up working harder for less fun, but that's OK every once in awhile.

How about a run to Calico next weekend? I know this thread is about JV, but I really want to go to Calico. These trails are so close, we can't take them for granted. I moved here from Czechoslovakia just to be close to these trails. I used to hava a Skoda, but I sank it in a snow bank once traveling from Murmansk to Minsk. I still had fun though. Man, hasn't the weather been great? I can't wait to hit Calico next weekend with my new rig all set up with 37 MTR's and my new, rare, Camper Special HP 44 and Ford 9" with 35 spline shafts and a Strange carrier. OK, so who's in for Calico next weekend?

Heah, I'm not trying be all bigger and badder, sorry if I come across that way. I might be back down to some 35" mtrs if my 37's give me too much troubles. Are U really a Czeck Andy? :) Wow, I only moved here from Chicago to get here, U had a way longer travels to make it to the promise land. :laugh3:

Thanks for the info Richard. I really appreciate it, I just want to get out and hit the harder trails. I know JV isn't for the faint of heart. I love the pics I'm seeing though from the trips U have gone on with Andy, Jes, Matt, etc etc. Good look in AZ. Looks like fun and plenty of work.

Thanks Bryan. Yeah, I wanted to make sure my chances of breaking an axle were kept to a minimum so I tryed to get good prices on the good parts for it. I read so much about Ryan being a good builder and parts guy that I gave him my business. He has been very easy to work with and his prices are very low for his parts and labor. I live in a townhouse and I have trouble with some people on the board of directors coming down on me for even doing little jobs like changing my oil, eventhough I still do it. By the time I bought the tools and learned how to do my gears, locker, fab, etc I would have paid way more and still not have the confidence to do something as intricate as setting up gears and a locker or two. Many people get these things done and while it is not cheap, it costs more breaking down and having to get your broken rig home and doing it over and over again. I do what I can on my rig, which has been more and more, but I leave the hard stuff to the pros. I'm happy for U if U do all your work Bryan. Ryan's price of $150 to set up gears and a locker in an axle is an awesome price and he really knows what he is doing.
