Big Bear Run Photos

Wally and I painted his KJ like that. We used PPG auto grade paint with no clear coat. Used a gun to paint it not a rattle can junk paint job at all. It's a lot of work to get this style down but it looks so much better than the rattle can big blobs camo jobs you see all the time. It was color sanded so the finish is smooth but no clear coating at all over it. We also painted his Adventrue Trailer to match. The lower half of the Jeep is Rino Lined. Did all the work at my house. We even had decals that say "Camo Edition". The guys from Jeep were all over this thing at Camp Jeep. By the way. I think this was the last time I saw this Jeep clean...right after the paint job.Later...Clint

That's by far the best camo paintjob I have seen. Looks AWESOME.

Great pics. Sorry I couldn't be there; looks like it was a lot of fun.

Not to hijack, but a friend of mine has an H1 coming in for a photo shoot in a few weeks and I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know what is and isn't passable up there right now for a behemoth like that. We were thinking of heading out to Yuma, but something closer would be good from a time perspective.

I have heard of them running John Bull or Holcomb Creek before and have seen probably trees showing it. I wouldn't recommend Holcomb Creek due to some recent washed out spots that would be to narrow. I am sure there is other stuff but you might ask other Hummer guys locally (not sure where to ask).

Yeah... That's about where my thoughts were on that too - and since this is going to be one of Hummer's press fleet vehicles, damage is a no-no. Not so much because we'd be responsible for it, but because damaging press vehicles is a good way to never get another one again; word-of-mouth gets around real fast on stuff like that. This would be bad for my friend, since he's the US correspondent for a Korean motoring magazine.

I'll poke around, but figured I ask here first since folks had been up there recently. Thanks!

Looks like fun

I'm from North Ca and was in Big Bear over Memorial Day Weekend. We ran John Bull (east to west) and we were going to run Holcomb On Sunday but I bent my rear driveshaft and was out of commission. That is definately gonna be a yearly trip. Beautiful Country!!!!

Late....
