BFG ATs or SS trXus? (31x10.5)

I am looking to go to 31's as well once I do my lift. I am driving on 235 BFG AT's and even at 65mph on snow they had great traction-shouldn't really have been doing that, but the BFG MT's are a little sloppy on the handling, my wife currently has em on her Scout Traveler and she says and I can attest that the steering is a little looser than when we ran AT's. Then MT's are a little softer, hence some of the sidewall flex. They also wear faster with on-road driving too vs the AT's. I would go with the AT's and don't even worry about it. My wife has limited off-road driving and when I got the AT's for my XJ, I wanted a tire that would wear well and give her as much traction for her limited ability off-road. I have climbed some light rocky terrain and through mud and I can assure you I love the BFG's. I will stay with them until I find something I like better. I have Kuhmo MT's on my Scout and I like the fact they are the old BFG MT design. Go with the BFG AT's, you won't go wrong.

The BFG AT's are more of a gravel road, country road and street tire than an off-road tire, so of course it feels tighter than an MT, which the TrXus is more of. There is a huge difference between those two tires. If you are going into battle, take the Swampers, if you are going to grandmas house in the woods, take BFG AT's.:peace:

Ask your wife what SHE wants then if she doesn't like them, you can't be blamed!

Those are actually the two tires she picked! :) I think I'll just get the BFG ATs and have it done with. We already have the TJ all built (is it ever really "all built?") on 35" MT/Rs, so if we want good off-roadabilityness (ha ha) we are all set. BFG ATs, I'll post pics in a couple weeks. Thanks to all, as usual.

Just to add....

My 2004 Ranger runs BFG AT 31's, the first set went 90K...and still had usable tread. In all those miles I never suffered a tire failure, or catastrophic puncture.

i've run both... the truxus sts are HORRIBLE... unless u drive all day in the sand they r useless... really bad on wet pavement... wear quickly, never balanced well... overall crappy tire...

the bfg at's i have now are great... no matter the conditions... altho i wouldn't go muddin' with them but that's not what they're designed for...
