Betcha haven’t heard of this happening before

I’ve taken a year long break from wheeling.
Yesterday I started up the beast and everything was running fine except for a vacuum loss.

I started tearing into and cleaning vacuum lines.
When I got to the air-box, I was shocked.
It was packed full of wasps. (thankfully, all dead)
The air filter was totally clogged of itsy-bitsy wasp pieces.

The little buggers had setup shop in my snorkel.

And no, I didn’t take a picture. I had already shop-vaced them all out before I thought of getting the camera.

Well then, this thread was doomed before the first reply.....

Wasps in a parked car? You gotta do better than that! Were they mud daubers or paper wasps. I hate paper wasps. Mud daubers'll usually leave you alone. Paper wasps are touchy little baitches.

Plus, they were all dead already! Where's the fun in that? What about the rest of the rig. Have your WD-40 and lighter handy when you go inspecting the rest of the body.

Paper

and here's your stupid picture:

I had paper wasps build a nest in one of the storage compartments in my boat... I went to stow a couple of life jackets and they came out with a fury. I got stung twice on my arm and once on the thumb, screamed like a little girl and jumped off the boat. Went back with my wasp spray and kilt the little bastards, every last one of 'em and their larvae too. There be no stowaways here!:scottm:

Ahh, I hate paper wasps. One time I needed a starter motor for a '72 Fury. I grabbed some wrenches and went to an old '63 Dodge 330 out back (gotta love that old Mopar junk). Popped the hood latch and one of them bItches came out through the grill. I started back peddling and she just flew right up to me and got me on the lip. I had a date that night, too. That nest got a good ol' dose of WD-40 blow torch :flame:

I got stung nine times once. On the neck and behind the ear. I looked like a right sorry little bastid, I can tell you.

 I can picture that.

i got stung once by a paper wasp.(completly unrelated to cars.)

i was walking and it decided to hop in the back of my shoe. just as i noticed and was going to take my shoe off it stung me. little basstard.

Wasps in a Jeep. That's nothing unusual. Try having a mouse set up house in your car.

Picture this....

Driving up 95 into Northern Virginia at 5:30 AM. The sun is just beginning to lift in the eastern sky, the morning radio show talking heads are doing their best to keep their jobs so they shut up and play some music. Through my peripheral vision I see something moving across the leading edge of the dashboard. I take my eyes away from the speeding soccer moms commuting in their SUVs trying to kill me and notice a field mouse walking across the dashboard.

I guess he heard me utter "What the..." and stopped to see where this strange sound came from. He sees that I'm looking right at him and he can't figure out whether to continue on or retreat form his earlier hiding place. Left, right, left right across the center six inches of dash. He finally decides to continue on. As he reaches the passenger door and begins to walk across it I hit the power window switch...

The Mouse Gazette carried the story

"Fivell Goes to Town, Gets Hit By Bus"

I almost pi$$ed myself, It looked like he was dancing to the music on he radio.

That was three years ago. the latest one set up shop in the heater duct of my Toyota, right on top of the cabin air filter. Finally got him in a trap, now I gotta clean the fan and replace the filter, again.

Bees are everywhere this time of year. The fall and winter it's mice. Ain’t country life grand...

:D

i have a better one for you about mice.

my brother just got a 05 Grand Prix. he too it on a camping trip with his friends. when he got back he told me to smell the inside and tell him what i thought.

i smell it and it smells like methane. si i decide to keep smelling every where and try and pin point the spot where it came from. well i came up with something in the front of the car.

a few days later he had had enough. he took it to the dealer and told them to look at it. surly they found it and guess what it was.... a dead mouse in the trunk of his car behind the upholstry.
now remember this is a new 05 Pontiac Grand Prix. and ther was a dead mouse that was able to find its way into the trunk and die.

that car is gone now. he traded it in for a 06 Pontiac Grand Prix.(i hate him, he has all this money to get a fancy new car and pay for the insurnce[$260 month] but he can't get me lunch)

i just thought that a mouse in a new car beats a mouce in an old car.

I don't see any wasps. I can't see anything other than the lavender valve-cover...

:D

Ha! I let my daughter pick the color.

Don't you like this red one, or how about this color blue?

Nope! She stuck with purple/lavender (whatever) :dunno:

My mother quit smoking a few years back and took up eating sunflower seeds. She was eating them constantly in her car, and leaving them out. Ended up trapping out a dozen mice before she started cleaning up the
seeds.

Another time driving back from a fishing trip my windshield wiper started moving around like it was flexable. Then it started crawling up the windshield. Damn snake.

Sitting at a traffic light in burlington vt, left lane waiting for the arrow for a left turn, black and white hornet flies under my face shield, I was on my motorcycle, and landed on my nose, 5 Oclock rush hour traffic. Instant 'break out in sweat' as I wait for the arrow at this 2 hour traffic light and try to get across the intersection and stop, remove helmet and the SOB got me. Drove right to the hospital, walked in the ER, said what happened and sat down to wait to see if I would keel over with a reaction, didn't but I have this fear/loathing of big red painfull clown noses ever since :D

As for mice, thats the only thing cats are good for.....reminds me, time to throw ours out in the shed and lock her in there for a day...

Alright! This is a wasp thread. All you mouse and snake people need to clear out.

I had wasps set up shop inside my gas grill. Ha ha!!!! Now THAT was quick and fun work. Those suckers came flying out of there faster than anything,.... at least the ones that made it.

Had that happen couple of times, trick is to leave the gas on for 30 seconds THEN hit the iginitor, they don't have time to come out between the 'click' and 'whoomph'...
