Please vote for your favorite rock rail based on the following KEY factors:

Easy Installation! (consider this the KEY factor when voting)

Good Protection

Value For Your Money

By the way, AJ's seems to be practically out of business at the time so they were not in the poll and Rock Ratz although super easy to install don't seem to be worth the price or have good enough protection so they also were not in the poll.

what poll?? for rockrails on a serious rig i will always chose FUNCTION over ease of install..
i say C4x4 double tube rails

I've been doing some research on this too. It's either gonna be AJ's or C4x4 for me.
I can always wait til AJ and family is doing good. Then put in an order with him.

AJ, hope that all is good. May the LORD watch over you and yours.

BTW, why wasn't WARN an option? Just curious....

I know, I read the whole thing on your website. I got the impression that you really weren't concentrating on the business right now with everything that's been going on. Am I wrong? Because your Rock Rails were one of the top on my list... seem easy to install... other than the standard 2x2, the others seem to have real good protection... and the prices were good.

Question: Did/do your rails come painted, powdercoated, or as bare metal?

Actually here http://www.jeepline.com/store/itemdetail.asp?ID=13437734 is a good picture of the Warn rails and they don't seem to mount in a very strong position... looks like they mount to the pinch seam only.

I'm not trying to be argumentative, or sell someone on Warn's sliders, ( I like AJ's the best...), but it says right on the website they install to the subframe... Just wanted to make sure everyone makes an informed decision... :)

"Support brackets bolt directly to the subframe."

ok, forget Rocky Roads as they are flimsy (saw a bent set on a rig this past weekend), AJ's and JKS are nice but most importandly try getting someone to build you a custom set.
You're asking for ease of install, reliability and good price (value for the money). I think that you actually can choose at most 2 from those requirements but most likely 1 would be more like it. Cause anything that will be reliable will take a while to install and will require quite a bit of lining up and drilling and swearing to put in (ok maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but it comes down to the fact that the install will always be involved). The reliabilty and good price (value for the money): you know the saying you get what you pay for? It's very much true. Most inexpensive stuff will not stand up to the abuse. That's why I recommend finding a local fabricator and getting him to make you something reliable. For the money that it'd cost you to buy a brand name a set of rails you can have someone make you a set and still have money left over.
Oh and paint them some flat black paint or something cause you'll scratch it up and have to repaint them sooner or later (or touch up or something)

In my experience, if you walk through the front door of a fab shop - you'll pay through the nose.
It's another thing if you know the shop, or a buddy with skills. It depends on who you find in your area.
The big name locals here do great work, but are not XJ specific shops. Most were up to their eyeballs building $150k desert trucks. They weren't willing to do shoddy work, and that research and time cost money. My rails were built locally, they're exactly what I wanted, but they weren't any cheaper. I have no welding skills, so it cost me.
Good rails like ORGS/JKS are proven, all the R&D dollars are spread out over their production.

You're right, I should have specified that I'm referring to a "buddy with skills" type of fabrication.

I have AJ's and love them, only set I will ever own. They were priced right, easy to install and will take any beating I will ever dish out to them. I bought them unpainted and sprayed them down with POR 15.

Not starting an argument as for I wasn't there and don't know the details, just stating that if you hit any rocker hard enough, it has a chance of giving.

Now if I didn't have Rocky Roads, I would get Kevin's w/o question.
