Hey guys I was wondering what everybody thought is the best tire for New England wheeling? I deal with mostly Ma Bell and Coy Hill. I haven't explored too far north yet. But I'm looking for something around the 35" size, with a strong sidewall, that could possibly be driven on everyday or as a occasional street driven vehicle too. Please give me your best opinions. Thank You.

I'm a Swamper guy, so I'd say for wheeling only, the Swamper SX has the most durable sidewalls I've seen for those sharp New England rocks. Next would be any bias-ply TSL...Going to a radial will give you better road manners and mileage but sacrifice sidewall strength. For a daily driver, weekend wheeler in New England I've really liked my TrXus, awesome in snow and very good off-road, but I have opened up a few sidewalls in 2 years. You'll probably get about as many opinions on this as there are tires. :sunshine:

well i'd have to agree also,,TRXUS MT radial's from interco tire, the company that makes TSL swamper's. 6 or 8 ply sidewall and i'm really impressed the way they handle rock's and mud....

Possibly if you get them siped.

If you want a great all around tire for the new england snow, ice, rocks, trails and mud, go with the Trxus MT's, I am still on my first set with about 55K to 60K, my speedo stop working about 2 months ago with 131K on it and I've been back and fourth to Boston from NY about 6 time since. Useable offroad tread is gone but they still have about .200" worth of tread left. Just ordered my 35's and possible the 37's after the heavy duty axles go on.

I seem to run across every one saying to get MTR's. But it is interesting that you guys are saying Trxus. I was considering those too. I have seen them perform very well on a YJ. But i'm afraid of the sidewall. A few people have said they've punctured them. Aren't they heavy too?

Well from what I heard the sidewall on a MTR is not as good as a trxus, but that again depends on what sidewall you get, with the trxus mt's you can get I believe up to a 8 ply sidewall. And yes they are heavy, and if you go above a 33, look for a tire guy that has a 9600 series tire balancer, to match balance. Out of the 5 I have on steel rims, two take more than the rest and only one need like 5oz. You can mark that up too Interco's quality control compared to Goodyears.
