I thought I would post a little review of my new battery tender plus.
I have an older diehard weather handler battery that I used to use but then thought to be a bad battery. I kept it rather than turning it in for the core fee thinking it could be saved as it was not too old and cost a bundle. It sat on the concrete floor of my garage for a good 3 years untouched. I hooked up the battery tender and let it sit over night only to find the battery charged the next morning. It was showing like 12.9v and was able to start a car first crank. It has since been left on the tender in its automatic float mode for future needs.
The battery tender has fused quick connect alligator clips or rings to hook up to the terminals if you intend to use it with the battery in the car. It has a basic display to show you what state of charging/float mode it is in, it even shows when the battery is at 80%. It is a nice solid metal design with a lot of ventilation and for me hasn't gotten to hot. The plus model also has the ability(supposedly) to compensate for ambient temperature and charge accordingly.
I read a ton of reviews and I opted to go for the plus model, it is a little bigger than the wall unit but I felt it was easier to find a place for it, plus it is an all metal box. The plus model also has a longer warranty over the Jr model and . I was tempted to get the waterproof model just incase I ever wanted to run it in water but I don't see that happened to justify buying the water proof model.
So far, it's a great little device that has brought my dead battery back to full life and if I plan to store a vehicle for a while I can throw the battery on to keep it in a good state. No more having to take my battery up to the auto parts store for their slow charge, one more thing I can do at home when the need(be it rarely) arises.
