OK, the fire has claimed more than 1400 homes and 35,000+acres and left many people homeless and with out clothes... If u have any old clothes u don't wear and that are in good shape we are doing a clothing drive... If I heard right 22 of the 24 bastrop firefighters who were fighting this fire lost there homes while trying to save others,so anything helps guys.......

Give me some real details and I can put it on my facebook page. I have some cloths I never use anymore, but no way to get them there. I would think the local retail charities (Salvation Army, locally Harbor Ministries, Thrift Villiage, United Way (National),.... already warehouses full of that stuff ready for those people, free for the worst off of them? I donate cloths, etc., to them annually

Rich and I spoke about this topic this morning. I don't have any extra clothes since we had a garage sale before we moved. We're not exactly cash flush right now but much better off than those that lost everything. I actually just got a small check for "my share" of the estate sale from my recently passed Grandfather.

In lieu of clothing, I will be doing a cash donation of a yet to be determined amount. If anyone here in the RRC is aware of the best recipient of mine and any other NAXJA sourced cash, please chime in. I thought about the RedCross, but I want to make sure that it stays here where it's needed. As far as NAXJA is concerned, it is made in name of Sgt. Major Speedy Price of the 49th National Guard. Whicher agency receives the funds will see it as a donation from the RRC of NAXJA.

Who else is in a giving mood?

The volunteer fire departments themselves might be the ones to ask!! They routinely handle kids gift Christmas donations, and it sounds like the Vol. Fire depts got hit extra hard.

I have something already in the works for a way to donate cash. It would go to our volunteer fire dept here then get pasted out to where it is needed.

I may possibly be driving down to Austin on the 25th with the fiance, was wondering if there were any drop off points in Bastrop for donations like clothes and such. Camp Swift, a training area for the Texas Army Nat'l Guard is just up the road from there, I spent alot of time in Bastrop prior to and after deployments. Very sad to hear about the damage done there.
