Aux port in stock radio head?

I was wondering if it was possible to either bypass the CD or Cassette player radio head and install a few wires and an AUX port to use with an ipod or any other music player. has anyone ever tried this and have any suggestions?

I got a cassette adapter device from radio shack, it looks like a cassette that you insert and a wire comes out with a plug on it that you plug into your iPod. Works great, it think it cost like $10.00

Ya I have one, but when you are at freeway speeds it generally gets loud, so naturally you turn up the sound but then it sounds crappy. the radio is fine, ipod is fine, its gotta be the cassette adapter.

Sounds like it's time for a new stereo. I jet got a pioneer head unit and four cheep but decent sounding speakers and all the install goodies for 265 at frys. It controls the iPod right on the deck. You can scroll artists and playlists right in the deck too. It sound ten times better than any stock setup. The deck alone was only 115.
