AUTISM..

NAXJA Forum User
With a rate of 1 in 166 kids getting this disorder, and 4 out of 5 being male...does anyone have a child that has een diagnosed with it? I'm playing the odds that someone does...

PM me.

Thanks,

Red

My Son spent most of his life being prodded by doctors until they gave up and proclaimed that Autism is about the only thing they could label what he might have. The doctors still say he doesn't have all the traits but enough of them to warrant the help he gets.
Why do you ask?

My son in very similar, but after a lot of research on the part of my wife the diagnosis has changed to Apraxia, which is more of a speech/motor planning issue. Many traits are similar, but physical therapy (mostly a trampoline in the backyard) has helped immeasurably.

I don't know anyone who has it, but I'm of the belief that it's caused by the mercury in vaccines. Doctors give tiny babies multiple mercury-laden shots at one time; in my opinion it's nearly criminal. Autism didn't exist until babies started getting vaccinated, it doesn't exist in the Amish (they don't vaccinate babies), and it doesn't exist in third-world countries too poor to vaccinate.

And it won't exist in my kids, as they won't be vaccinated. Especially since the numbers show that, for the Hep. B vaccination, a child is 127x more likely to die from the vaccination than the disease. (Reference: http://www.mercola.com/2000/nov/5/victory_over_sids.htm ; about 2/3 down the page.)

(Sorry about the slightly off-topic rant--this is a sore spot with me.)

x2

My wife spoke with a mother a few years ago who watched her perfectly normal child decend into an autistic state such that the baby was not able to function, all in the space of a few months after vaccinations. Scared the hell out of us.

BUT-
Europe has a much lower autisim rate, and they wait much longer before vaccinating (older children) and don't do the MMR, but rather break the MMR into multiple shots which has fewer side effects, but is a LOT more expensive. We wanted to go that way but it was going to cost several hundred dollars each. Currently the kids have no vaccinations.

yup...I've heard all that too...the product thermosil (SP?) that they used as a preservative ended in 1999...and suppsoedly they do not use any mercury based preservatives anymore.

Using heavy metals in anything you take in is really F'ing dumb in the first place.

There is a school in Utah for autistic kids. I believe it was either in American Fork or Spanish Fork. They have a wealth of information. I went there while I was in high school. If I remember correctly (it's been 15 years) they only took the kids that were pretty bad. Focused mostly only getting the kids the ability to kind of take care of themselves.

The son of a friend of mine was diagnosed with some kind of autism. He just has traits like staring into open space and oblivious to the world. Not really anything close to what I saw at the school. They did have a special program in town for him which seemed to help a bunch. He has learned to do a lot of things but it takes patience and a long time. My friend and I took 4 or 5 months to get him riding a bicycle without trainer wheels.

I would see if you could find a direct number for that school. They would be able to give you some really good info. Dug a couple of links that looked promising though:

In his schooling what kind of help did he receive?

yea in school they tryed diffrent things like haveing a helper follow him around . then they put him in an ebt school for the kids that act out and get into trouble. it wasnt really helpful to him it didnt meet his needs. and then they found that a school in the district that had a program spicifically for the kind of autism he had. now he is currently going to a school that teaches them how to be independent and stuff while they go to college

My grandson is autistic........... a tough life for such a great little boy!!! Luckily he has had help from many different agencies.
