I race a Cherokee, and I've owned an STi. I have no doubt something was being smoked, but I doubt it was a Subaru. Yes, XJs can be quick...but not STi quick.

Yeah, maybe just a base 2.5RS with a big wing. A lot of STi owners will trade deck lids with people who have the same color base cars to lower their profile. I thought about doing that when I had mine...the wing is a little much for me.

Lat year I had some good even runs with a 200? model WRX with mods over the course of 2 lights on 16th out of DC. The guys were cool and gave me the rock sign(thought it was in our smilies list). Those wings are a bit much, but love the way the boxer warbles, and much repect to Subies for their years of perfecting AWD.

I too have spent some time behind the wheel of an STi, and unless you're driving Brian(boostwerks) rig, I think you're smoking meth, not subaru's. Not saying it can't be done of course, I have no idea what is under your hood. But judging by the simplicity of your first post I think you're being a little hyperbolistic. And no, I don't think that's a word lol.

I drag raced my XJ a month after I got it. 17.4 @ 76mph was my best time. In 4WD, ha.
Was stock with 235/75R15 Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires.
Should do better now with my few bolt -in mods.

I also agree tho. An STI would kill any jeep, unless heavily modded (SRT8 excluded).

2.5RS with a turbocharged cosworth stroker would be my choice.

Hit me up though if you want to kill those STI's :wave1:

i had a stroker once... it was a manual with stock 3.07s and and smaller than stock tires. with that, i took an infinity G35 (the 350Z quivilent) up to 80mph. after i shifted out of third, he was gone. but i still note that it might just have been a kid not wanting to beat on daddys car too bad.

ive seen an STi launch at 5000rpms and stick.

ive also seen them spin the tires doing 70 on the highway in 3rd gear (this was heavily modified).

to think our grocery getter could hang with that... im sorry. but your high, and i want what ever you are on.

17's is not fast by any means. XJ's are lighter than most other comparable SUV's .

Seat of the pants SWAG (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) and compared to other cars on the track, I'd guess the Petty Cash race car is in the low 7 second 0-60 range, and acceleration drops sharply after 70. Probably a low-mid 16 second 1/4 time.

This does not compare favorably with most modern sports cars, but does stack up well with a lot of sporty cars from the '80s and early '90s.
