Anyone know anything about plantar warts?

So about two months ago I developed what I thought was a small callus on my heel. I stand for 12 hours at work so I figured no big deal. Well now its getting to the point where its still small but it hurts to stand or walk on my heel causing me to limp around. I talked to a family friend who is a Dr and he said it's a plantars wart. I used google images and it looks nothing like these pictures. It's small and doesnt look like an outbreak yet. Anyone have a similar experiance?

I had them when I was in the Army.... THAT sucked. Some reliefe was had by "shaving" some of the outer surface of the skin. Also those round band-aids with the hole in the middle helped. Eventually they had to be removed. The Army docs cut them out and left a big hole in the bottom of my foot. It was not pleasant. I guess those bastards spread roots or something.

Either way, it felt like I had a nail/tack poking my foot thru my boots. Running PT also sucked. Good luck.

let it go long enough and it will look like those pictures. Trust me, the longer you let it go, the harder it is to get rid of.

Best way I've found is to freeze it with liq N2, unless you let it go too long, then they have to cut it out.

supposedly ground up aspirin held on by a band-aid helps. I used to have a couple small ones on my finger. I'd cut them out with clippers and tweezers.Kept coming back and it hurt, so I wouldn't recommend that route...

Used to get them when I was younger. The podiatrist directed me to some topical stuff, about like super glue. Basically, you'd put it on, let it dry, then rip a layer of skin off. Done repeatedly, over a period of time, it would bring the wart to the surface, and eventually you'd be rid of the thing, and all you had to do was continually rip skin off your feet. Had them on the ball and heel- sucked a lot. Don't let it go too long without treatment. Having gone that route, and having had some minor foot surgery, I'd see about getting them frozen off, if possible. Work or anything that keeps you on your feet when you've got holes in them sucks.

Had one on my finger years ago, Grandma said to clip the top off with nail clippers til you can see a dark spot in the center, them put honey on it and cover with a bandaid. Took about 7 days of honey to make it go a way.

Daughter had one on her foot a few years ago and didn't go for the clip and honey process, so we bought a home-removal kit http://www.drugstore.com/qxp85809_333181_sespider/dr__scholls/freeze_away_wart_remover.htm that froze it....4-5 treatments and it turned black and fell off.

BTW, stop playing with toads.....and no kissing witches.

I had one right in the middle of my foot. Had to get it cut out. The worst part by far was when they shoved the needle right through the middle of the damn wart and shoved it right down to the bone . It hurt like no other, I'm sure you can imagine. Honestly, I would've rather foregone the lidocaine it hurt so bad. But at least it didn't last long, once I was numb I couldn't feel anything else. But DAMN do they take a giant hunk outta your foot! Seeing the bloody scalpel come out along with big chunks of foot material was kinda weird too. Then of course when the lidocaine wears off you're left with the dull pain of the hole in your foot. All in all it's not terrible though. Maybe they just happened to hit a nerve in mine. :dunno:

They can grow bigger if you don't take the proper precautions and become extremely painful. This happened to my sister a few years ago when she was just 16. She had to have outpatient surgery to get it cut out. It left a deep, quarter sized hole in her foot! It took over a full month for it to heal.

I had a small one once. I just took some fingernail clippers and dug it out. That was an extremely painful and stupid idea. It left a small hole in my foot and ended up getting infected and caused more pain. It basically looked like I had pulled a small, 1/2 spike out of heel.

I had the same thing, edge of my heel thought it was a callus then it startd to get the little black spots in it (i later learned blood vessels feeding the damned thing)... I took a clean razor blade, and after every shower I scraped it down. eventually them damned spots grew close enough to the surface and started bleeding when scraped then it eventually went away. It is a Virus, and it is contageous so if you live with others take care about the whole scraping/bleeding thing in the tub etc. Since it is a virus you also can always get it back, but im about 1.5 yrs out of it with no signs of coming back.

are you ready for what they are going to do to you?

Application of liquid nitrogen on a plantar wart, resulting in a huge bulla over the foot after five days

Dude shame on you for posting that. That is absolutely disgusting. We don't need to be scaring people who actually have these things.

I had a few a year or so ago and my dad is an infectious disease doctor so I was pretty well covered. Instead of going to have it frozen off my dda had me keep duct tape on the wart for a week or so, this killed the skin around the wart and I was able to see the black center. I used tweezers and pulled it out, this hurt pretty badly but it was gone for good. As soon as I pulled the core out (I was suprised how deep it went, probably half a cm) the hole filled with blood but didn't hurt the next day. I had another one frozen off because I wanted it gone fast, the freeze off feels pretty damn cool and takes them about 10 min to do everything and your outta the office.

I had two on my left foot a while back. I ended up cutting them out myself. Get them nice and soft with a piece of ice. It kinda numbs it too.
I put a new exacto blade in and went to town. They didn't even bleed. Sore for a couple of days after but not as uncomfortable as it was with them still in my foot. I don't recall how long ago it was, but it's been a long time and they haven't came back.

Had a couple when I was in high school. Doc froze them and that took care of it. Been a long time, but I think there was some minor pain for maybe a day at the most and then I was 100% again. The pain was just enough to let me know it was there, but I was still walking on it with no problem.

Had on on my hand as a kid. Figured it was from spanking the monkey. Grandma warned me about that... :)

Seriously, I went to the Dr. and he cut it off then burned the hole with some kind of electric thing that looked like a soldering iron. Big scar, but it never came back.
