Anyone into ATV's?

Heard about the new 2006 SUZUKI QuadRacer R450? Fuel injected ATV. Pretty cool to me. I was looking all around and I want to find more personal opinions on the bike. All the magazines say its the best bike yet and they have raised the bar with it, but I like personal experience better.
I have a 1987 Quadzilla LT500 now, but im looking to sell it and get something new that I will not have to work on out at the dunes as much.
Anyways here is an article on it.
I don't know how much I really like electric start bikes, but I guess they are the wave of the future.

Get a honda 450r or yamaha yfz450, One of my buddies has both machines both 05's, both fast but the in stock form the yamaha would pull one bike length on the honda, yamaha has electric start- not sure if I consider this to be good or bad thing. Honda is more tippy, but more comfortable than yamaha if you do a lot of trail riding. honda also has lots of low to mid, yamaha mid to high powerband, honda is very light in the front, hard to keep the front wheels on the ground when its modded. At a local flat track the yamahas seemed to dominate the hondas, no one had a suzuki 450. As for dunes.. I live in WI, i wish...

My cousin has a YZF450. The bike is fast and its okay to ride but I really feel like im sitting on the front tires when im riding it. I guess I could get a longer a arm kit for it, but that is like $1500 dollars and I don't want to have to put $ into it right away.

The Suzuki 450's are lower and wider than any other bike it its class. My Quadzilla that I have now is the biggest frekin bike. Rides awesome and I can jump it and land soooo smooth. Im 6'4" 230 lbs and I can streatch my feet out all the way from a sitting position on the bike and barely touch the front tires. I love it. I need something like that, but newer.

never rode the suzuki so I can't compare it to the ohter two, Actually I haven't really heard much about it other than in magazines, I can't imahine it would be much differnet performance wise than either honda or yamaha, I never got to jump the yamaha, the honda did very well on the jumps, I'm 6'2" 180, so I also feel kind like the yamaha just feels small. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3 really...just pick a color lol!

Yeah, that is true they are pretty much all the same really now a days.
My brother has a 2006 Banshee with full suspension and pipes
My couson has a 2006 YZF450 stock
The YZF beats him off the line and drag racing up the sand dune hills.
The only thing the banshee beats him on is the top end. Its funny! I totally though the 2 cyl banshee would be so much faster, but I guess not!

BTW my Quadzilla beats both up hill and on the straight aways, when its running right and I am able to kick over that 500CC 2 stroke beast.

yeah banschees are a blast too, you can easily make em fly, suspension wise i love the new machines, they're pretty good in stock form if you're into mxing or trail riding, never rode quadzilla either, maybe I should test drive one of those, 500cc two stroke sounds pretty insane.

Yeah the quadzilla is fun its just the work that I have to keep doing to it I don't like. Its 19 years old so it can be expected.

My bro just ordered new carbs for his banshee so that should be interesting. I do not do any trail riding only the dunes out here in California.

Beat a yami 450 on top end eh'? Far as I know thought two-strokes peaked then slacked off a bit. From experience with the thumper bikes, always noticed and heard that the two strokes peaked and then died. The torque on the honda 450 and yami 450 are astounding downlow. The yami is more of a race prepped quad and i guarantee your ass is gonna sore after riding that thing for a pit. The honda's a kickstart though... Can't beat the old fashioned or honda power. I'm just a biased reader here though... Anti-Yami/ anything two-stroke.

I was raised on 2 strokes and I guess that is why I like them. My 500CC 2 stroke is allot different than the smaller 250's and what not. Its not a rev monster. I ride it through the dunes in 3rd and never have to shift even starting at the bottom of a hill coasting. Its got power like a 4 stroke whenever you want it and I dont have to have it revved out like a banshee to go up anything. Its weird because it really has no powerband like a smaller 2 stroke it just always has power.

Im just thinking of going to a 4 stroke for the reliability factor. I will definetaly have to upgrade the suspension and swing arm to get the damn thing as long as I want it.

I have an Suzuki LTR450 and it is very fast, handles beautifully and totally rips it up at the dunes. I highly recommend it to any one that rides and that can handle that much power. After the break in period you add the Cherry Bomb, remove the air box lid and baffle, then hold on for an awesome ride.

Awesome! How many trips have you had it out? Who have you raced and beat so far.

Also, if you dont mind me asking what did you pay for it and what year is it? Did they just start making them 2006 or were they out in 05?

No dunes in Delaware. Woods riding and railroad tracks is about as far as we go. Dune riding, hell yea! Big ass 500cc monsters. Quicksand 1 and 2 made me want to tour to Glamis. Woods riding, and GNCC knockoff races is all we are exposed to. Keep those things alive though, rare bike, most defiently a keeper

ya i love fourwheelers, that quadzilla of yours is sick. my friend races and he prefers the honda 450r over the yfz450 for reliablilty he says. hejust sold a fully decked out yfz for 11000!!! id keep the quadzilla and instead of buyin a new bike mod that thing up. i use to ride racing fourwheelers but then i relized that all the mud and creek i was riding made me replace the brakes 2wice a month... i still miss the torque and how you feel free doin 70mph...

I have had it to the dunes once so far. I have raced everyone in my camp up competition hill at Buttercup and had no problems beating everyone. The only one that came close was a moded Honda 450R but I still beat him by 3 quad lengths. My bike is the 2006 model and I paid $6500 for it 2 months ago. It seriously kicks ass and worth getting if you want something with tons of power and handles great.

Just sold my LTZ-400 which I loved and got a 2-stroke 400 Scrambler, which I love more!

Have my eye on the Outlaw though, and have heard nothing but good so far. A very cool machine.
