Anyone here ever go boating on the Ohio river?

Looking for a place to put in near the Cincy area (within an hour of Cincy). Hoping to find a public ramp to do a little sightseeing in a small pleasure boat for an afternoon this fall with some friends. We'd prefer to go west toward Indiana, more things to do on the riverfront. Lemme know. TC

Could you pick a nastier more God forsaken body of water to do sightseeing? :laugh3:

It's really not that bad if you stay in the boat. Also it's not recommended you eat more than 2 lbs a year of Ohio river fish, just in case you are a fisherman.

There is a place just across the river from Cincinnati called Covington KY, that is pretty popular.

Also try Madison, IN. I know several folks that make the trip between Madison and Louisville/Jeffersonville each year on the river.

You can dock at Louisville/Jeff and take your pick of riverside restaurants.

Umm, thanks Terry. I can always count on you.
What do ya mean Dirk? You never tasted corpse laden H20 Before?
Actually it's not so much the river itself but the old river towns along the way that we'll be hitting. We've driven a good bit of it but boating the route will be kinda neat. There's a lot of early American history to the Ohio, a good number of towns are well over two hundred years old. Plenty of old Taverns, Mills and Antique stores along the way. The bonus of the boat is there's no way for the wimmen folk to drag any junk home. TC

Yeah, I'm familiar with all that being from the area, I'm just bustin your...

There's a lot of scenery and history, but being a fisherman myself I prefer to stay away from the Ohio river.

Have fun! :sunshine:

Tim,
Try Madison and Evansville, IN. I hate to tell you to go anywhere near Indiana, but that's about as good as it gets on the ohio. If you land near Louisville, gimme a yell. I can hook you up with some good eats near Louisville.

Thanks Chris, good to hear from ya. Not sure if we'll make it as far as Louisville, depends on time and stops. Who knows, we may end up doing an overnighter tho. TC
