Anyone have a good write up with pics for 8.25 Aussie install?

Last question here, I am swapping in the new locked 8.25 this weekend, Should I wait to seal up the diff until the tires are on and I do the turning of axles to test the locker ?

J/K i just read to the end of the directions and it says to leave cover off for the tire spin test. thanks again all.

Helping my buddy do his tomorrow... since it is a bone stock 8.25 with factory drum brakes ( 1999) we don't have to slide the axles out for the c lips because it is not disc correct? Or does it slide a few inches as a whole unit ( axle, drum brake, wheel) Thats really the only part I am a bit cloudy on

Yes , really helps to have 2 people as the clip is a mother to get back on on the right space

ah I got ya... ya thanks for the incite, I will be hitting this tomorrow. The instructions are so darn obscure but I am sure once you are down there it makes a little more sense.

Glad some one else thought that too. You don't remove the carrier , once spiders out you build it in place. Start with ring side. Then thrush washer and Locker Axle axle gear. Then I believe you slip the shaft and clip back in place. Repeat on non ring side. Not much room at all . Get a friend with tiny hands !

This lunchbox locker can easily be installed by yourself without any "helper." When they say "if you can change brakes then you can install an Aussie" they aren't kidding. I did a thorough write up with lots of pics on page three of my build thread

I didn't say it was required, just that it helps when work with the C clip re0install on the 8.25...

^^^ Oh I agree that a second set of hands is almost always better. I was just saying it can be done fairly easily by yourself.
